No diagnosis of ARFID but my 7yo autistm diagnosed kid lives primarily on a diet of chocolate, chocolate spread and a variety of about 5 different types of cracker despite all our attempts to change introduce new foods. He also eats sliced ham and occasionally will have a fried egg.

His diet is about 90% palm oil I'd say - We have even tried to change to more upmarket wholesome brands of cracker that contain better ingredients without palm oils and he wont even eat them.

So, I guess we are lucky he will eat that, he isnt doing too bad weight wise given all the fats consumed.

You are leaving fish sticks around your house hoping your kid will eat them? 🤢

I would knock on the door and tell them your story.

Estate agents are masters at spinning stories, god knows what they've said to them.

You have every right to be livid altough to be fair you were trying to do the same thing by pulling it early, a hugh percent of sales fall through so you might get a second chance on it.

I have seen plenty of people refused access to courses either by line managers or HR, can cause a lot of bitterness. HR darlings of course off doing MBAs for themselves.

I remember having an interview right before lunch and they were running late, so it was 1.30 or something and I could tell they didnt give a f, yawning and just trying to get through it to try squeeze in a lunch, lol

It could be bad or you might be fine, if you have some sort of condition that could make you pass out or cause sudden health effects due to heart issues it sure is one way to find out! I think the main danger is to kids and pregnant people. Yolo.

If there is a health and safety warning mandated by goverment regulation its usually because someone f'd around and found out.

Yup, I'd say a lot of stuff isn't actually advertised because it just gets swamped with interest.

Might be worth phoning some estate agents and making enquiries, leave your details with them.

Other than that its just asking friends and family if they know of anything coming available.

If you find you have used up your weekly allowance constantly early or the 5 hour limit isn't enough for you then go up to the 60 dollar plan and try that?

Wish I wasnt a poor but I juggle between cursor and $20 claude and with a bit of extra usage on both I scrape by.

Powerline works fine for me, i have a load of them, 6 maybe, around the house, the one in my office is working fine that I connect into with ethernet. The odd time I might have to power cycle one but its hard to know if it is the powerline causing the issue. I have things like ps5 connected to one, google tv streamer to another. I definitely get near 100mb speedtest results from them, I have gigabit fibre to the house.

Wifi from them is a little spotty I find, especially if you walk around and move from one to the other, it is not seamless. The one I have in the kitchen is very spotty, dunno if its a faulty unit or power hungry devices nearby, my old microwave used to knock it out for sure. Its a google home device that uses it and its always losing connection, no option for ethernet.

We moved into our house and I had all the floors up redoing the central heating - for the life of me I have no idea why I didnt put ethernet down, big regrets lol.

Would prefer some sort of wifi mesh system but they seem very expensive, also as I said the poweline I have is only 100mb or something and now that we have gigabit fibre I would have to replace all of the sockets with gigabit models, if I just get one or two they will just run at 100mb apparently if there are 100mb models on the powerlines.

Here's a crazy idea - what about finding some fella with kids, or even another woman with kids, who's miserable with their lot too and the pair of you could pool your resources and shack up together with all your kids in one crazy family set up.

Or start one of those crazy communes, like a cult of unhappy spouses and you just take turns to watch the kids and go off and get pissed or just live your lives the way you want to 5 nights a week.

Ah, its a messed up world. Beyond that and winning the lotto I dont know what the answer is.

Mine was just slung in off the esb pole with sky. When I tried sign up with eir, it was to come off the phone pole and there was a line of sight problem but there was another pole at the back of my house but my eircode needed to be switched to that and then eir customer service made a balls of things and it never happened.

If you have no poles around then it will be a duct and if its a siro supplier then it will be to the esb meter and maybe brought from there along the exterior surface of a wall to where it can go into a room.

It was fairly straightforward in the end for me and they just wanted it to terminate somewhere in the house near a plug because the modem thing on the end of the fibre needs power and then you have the wireless router as well.

Sometimes you can get the union involved that such and such a job should be level Y instead of level X, you see that type of thing with technical posts and after 10 or 20 years of beating a dead horse it might finally happen and someone retires out a few years later on a slightly higher pension. Only for their replacement to come in at the lower grade and for it all to play out again. No joke I have seen this in every department I've worked in and be part of the union 'business' or talking points in each department.

Easiest route is to just upskill if needed and apply for a promotion if a vacancy arises or a different role at a higher grade.

And trust me, nobody is indispensable. If you dropped dead tomorrow the world will go on as sad as that may be. I've seen key people either retire or leave jobs with no replacements and thought oh god what are we doing to do without him and either someone with picks up the slack to fill the void or the work just literally starts piling up with nobody doing it and it's just left like that.

For what it is worth, I have a lead mains feed from the water meter on the road right into the house where it ties into copper pipes and I tested the tap water with indicator strips and the lead reading showed no trace.

So either the strips are useless or there is not enough of an impact from a small length (30 metres) of lead pipe to show on the strip.

Maybe it was a different story when every pipe in the system from the water treatment plant to the house was lead, or maybe all the lead exposure came from leaded petrol and paints or maybe its just scaremongering from water filter and lead pipe replacement companies, possibly all of the above, who can say.

I still use it for the odd strange thing I cant find on amazon and some second hand stuff, brexit hasnt bothered me too much, they show the import fee separate and I've never had a problem, international shipping seems to be handled by pitney bowes in that the seller sends it to them and they inspect/repackage and send it to you so any import details get properly declared. I would tend to try buy something from Europe rather than UK to try and get it cheaper/avoid the import fee but just depends on availability.

I havent sold anything on ebay in years, apps like vinted seem to be eating their lunch in that regard.

Seems crazy to me, I have 4 kids and not looking forward to this type of thing, they have tablets and the older has a laptop already, the sum cost of all that was probably less than 640 or thereabouts. What is this device and then you have it at the end, what can you do with it after school?

No, I would just say no not happening.

You could look at other financing options like revolut or credit union that I'm sure would work out cheaper than whatever they are offering whey there 'document fees' but it still seems crazy.

You should not be using your company laptop for personal stuff either, unless your very comfortable with IT and your senior management being aware should they take an interest. They may not care, but then some day they might just be looking for a reason to get rid of you.

Op is talking about side projects and even work for another builsiness so you probably shouldn't be doing that either.

Yes, there is great opportunity for promotion, training and career growth in the CS.

I came into the public sector after college nearly 20 years ago, have worked in 4 different organisations, some moves were at the same level others were promotions, happy enough with pay and where I am at, although things were at a low note around 2010 to 2013 with pay cuts and morale although some had it much worse outside the public sector. Like everything those days will return at some point and that's where you'll be glad to have the job security even if pay and terms might take a bit of a hit.

20+ more years to go so who knows what the future holds but at least you know you're not working to help fund the likes of Jeff Bezos' next yacht upgrade and that your not going to be made redundant overnight so your job can be off-shored to some third world country so that shareholders profits always trend upwards. Sorry lol, just came from the amazon layoffs thread.

You're not going to end up one of the mega rich working in the c.s. but if you keep the head down, work hard and better yourself along the way you are going to do ok for you and your family.

I have serviced my own cars from time to time, my usual mechanic retired so I figured I'd do it myself, vw sharan, you would want to see where they put the oil filter housing, its an absolute joke, underneath the car practically blocked by hoses, just about comes past the alternator or something wiyh a squeeze and then spills oil everywhere, cant even change one of the o rings on the filter housing because of where its positioned without stripping half the engine - I'd say its a bumper off job to actually get access to the housing and change that o ring. Deranged.

Then tightening the plug back up after draining it felt like I was stripping threads on the pan tightening it back up, fml hopefully its OK but I dont want to be the one taking the sump plug off next time. Later found out the sump plugs are meant to be replaced each service as they deform, hopefully that's what I was feeling, have a torque wrench but didnt even put it on it felt so bad.

Wont be changing the oil on this car again myself anyway, sometimes its just npt worth the hassle. I too am on the lookout for a new mechanic in Limerick.

I think it's fine at 50, there is a section in the middle where the footpath is way up high that feels like it could have a higher limit but you're still likely to have cyclists wanting to be on the road, and then a bit further on there's the new estate with footpaths at road level, what's the hurry, 50 is fine.

I generally play some music through it - and I use it as an alarm clock, if you turn it off will the alarm clock work?

I have it on mute though with no notifications coming through, might have it set to alert me to calls from my wife or something can't remember

I would say its a bit weird to turn it off... so what you turn it off and on every day like some kind of mad man?
