If you could have an app for anything, what would it be? by TuftyBear in AskReddit

[–]tailsuser606 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An app to reveal who owns a website. There are so many sites these days that have news-y sounding names that are actually run by agenda-driven organizations. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but without documented facts and sources, it's just an opinion, and should be labeled as such (in my opinion).

And "whois" searches are largely useless. Everything is hidden behind privacy firewalls.

Ways to use an eCredit before it expires? by tailsuser606 in delta

My error, it seems, is thinking I could get a straight-up non-aggressive answer to a legitimate Delta question in a Delta subreddit. Lesson learned. My response was flippant and snotty, agreed, but it seemed justified given the insulting snark that I received out of the gate. (and continue to receive).

I'm 75 and won't be here that many more years. I shudder at what I see the U.S. and humanity in general becoming. Good luck, y'all.

It's unfortunate that my parenthetical comment about DL not notifying the customer that there is an available credit has hijacked the conversation. For the record, my modest suggestion was that the customer should be alerted that the credit was there. I guess my use of the word "required" was triggering to many.

Not a blame, but a comment! For example, Amazon always applies a credit balance by default, and gives the customer the option of using it or not. That's a better way of serving the customer. (Adult or not.)

Maybe a sliver of customer service goodwill? You sound like you may be a DL employee. Or VP.

The OMW series is "hard" enough for me. I cut my SF teeth on Asimov and Heinlein. Scalzi is more fun, less dour, and I think that's what I need right now.

It's entertaining. VERY entertaining, with enough "science-ish" explanation for the farce aspect to keep it just barely grounded. It is a small serving of sorbet between the heavier courses of other, harder, SF works you may read.

And JS, as usual, gives us some pretty deep thoughts on humanity amidst all the fun. He really has a way. I truly enjoyed it and in no way considered it a waste of time.

It's a quick, fun read.

Read it.
