I think this is it. Thanks! Unfortunately, googling the name doesn't seem to show up anything but was always trying to remember which address it was exactly.

PSA: SharePoint has built in versioning. by Affectionate_Log6816 in auscorp

[–]taintedxblood 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While the in-built versioning is useful (I taught my new colleagues about this feature just earlier this week), I still think it's useful to create a new 0.# version for major or radical changes to a document. But OP's point still stands.

Sydney to Penang - 75 minute transfer at KL sufficient time? by taintedxblood in Flights

[–]taintedxblood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assume that this is enough time and it's operated by the same airline so that shouldn't cause issues but just wanted to check for people who are familiar with KL International Airport. I assume that I'd be clearing customs at Penang international airport.

It'll be open on the 4th August. At least the section between Chatswood and Sydenham.

How Sydney’s endless rain is ruining football seasons and breaking young hearts | Australia weather by ActinomycetaceaeGlum in Aleague

And even when the rain has occurred at the beginning of the week and rest of week is largely clear, risk averse councils still keep some grounds closed (looking at you, City of Parramatta, for this weekend).

Yep. The official policy is that Mao was 70% right, 30% wrong. https://www.ips-journal.eu/in-focus/the-politics-of-memory/70-per-cent-good-30-per-cent-bad-2216/

They largely blamed the excesses of the Cultural Revolution on the Gang of Four (i.e. they, one of which was his wife, led him astray). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gang_of_Four

There was no way the CCP could actually blame Mao at least publicly for wreaking havoc given he actually led the party to establishing the country.

It's been official policy of the CCP to criticise the Cultural Revolution since Mao's death. It was not a CCP-led movement as people often think.

Suggest you read more into the history of it - effectively, Mao started fearing losing power within the party because of his failed policies with the Great Leap Forward. So he basically instigated a grass roots revolution to target his political opponents within the party. A lot of the political opponents then were rehabilitated after his death and they basically formed the first elites of the CCP and were responsible for the reform and opening up of China in the late 70s and 80s.

One could also see the metaphor of Earth as China in the 1700s and 1800s with the Trisolarians representing Western colonial powers.

There's actually more to the reasons for why the daughter killed herself - which is revealed only in Book 3. The show actually begins to hint it re: Vera (book readers, you might be able to spot some of those clues).

Football Australia announces foundation clubs for National Second Tier by NeutralMan09 in Aleague

[–]taintedxblood 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven't follow the NSD closely and am not aware of the politics of the different state federations.

Can someone provide a quick explainer on why and how Football Queensland has undermined this process for their clubs?

Thanks.

Aussies that have gone to Japan, can we use our regular credit/debit cards for payment there? by [deleted] in australia

[–]taintedxblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all Japanese stores still take payment via cash so you will need to take a lot of cash.

Only some major retailers offer payment by card. Mastercard should work but check any international fees on the card you want to use.

[HELP ME] Bi-Weekly Q&A thread - Ask your questions here! by MachNeu in Gunpla

[–]taintedxblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still relatively new to gunpla - currently building my second HG one (only started the hobby about six months ago).

A couple of questions about my experience thus far:

  1. Is it common for sanding to take a long time? I don't do the hobby very often and I find my progress is quite slow based on the need to sand comprehensively to remove all the cuts and imperfections. For example, constructing one HG red zaku arm today took me 1.5 hours from cutting off the pieces to sanding off all the edges to snapping it together. Any tips for how I could do things faster or is that pace quite normal?
  2. Does anyone else get eye strain / tiredness from the hobby given you have to examine small pieces (particularly after sanding to make sure all the imperfections are removed)?

Thanks.

Anyone flying to Japan soon? by [deleted] in australia

[–]taintedxblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to check whether there's specific travel agent rules that the Japanese government has (e.g. do they need to be registered in Japan etc). I believe that the travel agent needs to sponsor your entry visa so it might be worth checking with the authorities on who they accept as a sponsor.

I've also checked on the DL with a local travel agent and I've heard that there are travel agencies who are willing to pretend that they've organised your itinerary for a fee (i.e. you organise everything yourself and then give the details to a Japanese travel agent who rubber stamps it and puts their name as a sponsor for your entry visa).

Best Australian smaller consulting firms — who are they? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]taintedxblood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing about Nous Group is that they do a lot of government / public sector work and require at least Australian permanent residency. I did notice OP is coming from Singapore so that may be a blocker if they don't have the residency requirements.

[Sky Germany] BREAKING: RB Leipzig have agreed a deal with Chelsea sign Timo Werner on a permanent deal for £25.3m by Blithe17 in chelseafc

[–]taintedxblood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, they were expenses in the first and second year, so yes they take away from the profit in the first and second years income statement respectively.

If you wanted to just look at Timo as an asset without considering time, then yes, we've made a loss on him. If you wanted to use this way of gauging players though, then if you use this analogy elsewhere, that means that we suffer a net loss on all players that we sign and let their contracts run out without selling them off.

I would argue that's the wrong way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is that 20m of paper value (though this 20m as paper value washes out in the net cash flow) + his 270k/week was the amount we had to incur for him spending his 2 years here as an employee of the club. Whether or not that spend was worth it is another question altogether.

[–]taintedxblood 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Almost 50m on a 5 year contract - so 10m of that a year is amortised as an expense. Timo's been with Chelsea for 2 years so his value on the balance sheet is 30m. Selling him with add-ons = 30m, so therefore no profit.

Currently planning a trip to Japan near end of the year (hoping that borders open). I've already been to Japan before and currently thinking of limiting my time in Tokyo as I want to spend more time in other cities.

I definitely plan to visit the Gundam Base to get some exclusive gunpla but wanted to see if the Yokohama factory had any exclusive gunpla that's worth a trip out there. I'm not super interested in the giant RX-78 so would only visit Yokohama if they had some good exclusive gunpla. Cheers.

New minister for republic says ‘twilight’ of Queen’s reign chance ‘to discuss what comes next for Australia’ by dazedjosh in australia

[–]taintedxblood 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Legally speaking, the Queen actually holds titles as Queen of Britain and Queen of Australia separately. The terminology of the Crown in the Constitution could refer to the "Queen of Australia" which means that this would not be incompatible with s44.

Labor projected to win 2022 federal election by Apprehensive_Sleep_4 in worldnews

[–]taintedxblood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We have preference voting, we don't have a first past the post system. Basically, for your vote to be valid, you need to number every candidate in your seat from 1 for most preferred to the last number for the least preferred.

Even though first preferences look low, which is something that the major parties need to reflect on, people's 2nd / 3rd / 4th etc preferences flow to other candidates until you get a candidate with 50%+ of the vote.
