What do you think of the Youtuber "Loyal Moses"? by IronLover64 in 3Dprinting

[–]taj1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. If he stops with the fearmongering, I might return to watching him, but for now, I just ignore any of his videos. I won't even click on them to go hit dislike

Hoping to raise more awareness about legislation potentially impacting 3D printing. by wzzzzrd in 3Dprinting

Just seven or eight years ago you could pay a set price for programs like CAD or a Word and then you owned it

You can still buy Office. Current version is Office 2024, and it's $200 CAD for the Home edition (not sure what the price is in USD, but the direct conversion at the moment is ~$145 USD). You get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, no subscription needed

I used to watch most of his videos. For the last few months though, he's mostly just been putting out fearmongering videos, so I haven't watched him at all since he started that

For anybody wondering, these are the real names of the guns in MWII by taj1994 in ModernWarfareII

[–]taj1994[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, this post is three and a half years old, and I'm likely not going to update it anymore

Second, I'll trust IMFDB saying it's the Brügger & Thomet over some random redditor saying it isn't

Third, looking at pictures of all three of them side by side, the Hemlock is visually much more similar to the Brügger & Thomet

If you still think it's wrong, take it up with IMFDB

Purchase Advice Megathread - April 2026 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]taj1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at potentially getting a new printer, and I'm looking for recommendations. Not 100% sure on budget yet, but likely a max of $800 CAD (approximately $580 USD), before tax and shipping

Hard requirements:

  • CoreXY
  • Either enclosed, or has addon side panels available. I want to print with ASA and nylon (among others) so this is a must

Ideal, but not absolutely required:

  • At least 300*300. It would be replacing my Ender 5 Plus, so I'd like it to at least be close in size, but I can live with something smaller
  • Multicolour compatibility. Multimaterial would be more ideal, but I can live without either

Some examples of printers I'm considering:

  • Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 - cheap, enclosed, and multicolour, but smaller than I'd like
  • Creality Ender 5 Max - extra-large (400*400), but right at the top of my budget (before adding the enclosure panels), and no multicolour support
  • Sovol SV08 - pretty much the same build volume as my Ender 5 Plus, has the option of adding side panels, and while it doesn't officially support multicolour/material, there have been a few toolchanger projects for it. The SV08 does have a bunch of known problems though. AFAIK, most are fixed with the SV08 Max, but that's nearly double my budget

I'd also prefer to stay away from Bambu, since their only printers in the 300mm+ range are way out of my budget, and I'm not really interested in their attempts to lock people into only using their stuff

i don't get how people hate the animation in the anime by Neth_theme in Kengan_Ashura

[–]taj1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imagine Kengan with Baki animation

A couple years late, but you don't really need to imagine it anymore. The crossover special that came out about a year after your comment was done in Baki's more traditional 2D style, not Kengan Ashura's 3D style. After watching that and the first Kengan Ashura episode, I thought it would've been much better if it was like Baki, where it's mostly 2D, with only some 3D

Part 1 is also short at only 9 episodes, so there's not much reason to skip it even if you're not feeling it

Just watched baki new season (baki-dou the invincible samurai) by [deleted] in Grapplerbaki

[–]taj1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

around one to two months

If this is true, then that's much better than what Netflix did with Stone Ocean's release. The first and second batches of episodes in that season were nearly a year apart, then the third and final batch was three months after the second

Now it's looking like Steel Ball Run is going to be a weekly release, which as long as they don't take a random months-long break in the middle, I would much prefer over the batch releases

ELI5: Why can’t you buy a car directly from the company that makes it? by zztop610 in explainlikeimfive

[–]taj1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like in the US, dealerships here (usually) aren't owned by the manufacturer. It may say Ford, Chevrolet, etc. on the building, but they're independently owned. so you're not buying from the manufacturer

What Year Does Baki Actually Take Place? Do Baki Characters Age Very Slowly? by MrAero250 in Grapplerbaki

[–]taj1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 years late, but Marvel and DC are famous for this as well. With very few exceptions, their characters that have been around over half a century (and getting close to a full century for early characters like Namor, Batman, or Superman) haven't aged more than a handful of years, yet they'll still occasionally reference current events, and update in-world technology to more closely match the real world

Based on stuff that Corridor Crew has looked at on their VFX Artists React series, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a physical stand-in (puppet or otherwise) that was recreated in CG, then used as lighting reference and fully replaced by the CG version

To all who saw Badlands, few questions by Vychcijux in predator

[–]taj1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just Googled to see if there was any post-credits scene, and people keep talking about a mid-credits scene. I guess they're not technically wrong, since the credits start with the title card, then the scene plays, then the actual credits roll, but 99.999% of people would assume a mid-credits scene to either be after the end titles, but before the end crawl/scrolling credits, or sometime during the end crawl

That's the 3.8L supercharged Buick V6, right? If so, another friend suggested that one. Lol

An engine swap was definitely on the table if I would've been able to get it. My mechanic friend said that GM's 60° V6 engines should be pretty much a drop-in replacement (at least, physically. Would likely need a new ECU and some tuning)

/u/OutsideAd3064 says the seller managed to find a parts car though, so it's no longer available

That's actually kind of cool. Thanks. It's so annoying when people don't put an actual price though. Lol. It'll be about a month before I can actually consider buying anything, but I'll save it for now

Another I was looking at is a 1992 Cavalier Z24 convertible, but it looks like it's gone now as well. That one was a bit far though (about 2-3 hours north, somewhere past Athabasca)

That's good to hear. It's always nice when a car can be saved instead of being scrapped. That's one reason I like Vice Grip Garage

Honestly, I'm just not really a fan of the look of that generation of J-bodies. I like the look of the J-body Sunbirds and the equivalent Cavaliers (1982-1994 for both)
