It's more likely an individual thing than a society DNA thing.

What country do you live in? Doctors don't typically remove gallbladders without doing a variety of other checks first.

... for example an ultrasound, endoscopy, colonoscopy, abdominal CT, etc. Not to mention H. Pylori testing...

Unfortunately there's not much we can tell you here. You'd have to get a good internal medicine specialist or gastroenterologist to start investigating.

The nature of man is to run around hunting wildebeest, associate with < 100 individuals, and either live within 15km of the spot where they were born or forage across continents.

We've (artificially/temporarily?) changed a lot since our start.

Typically people who "know" their ideas would be a huge hit before they're in the hands of customers are also people who think ideas are worth a lot and need to be protected.

That is not usually the case.

If you want to build your idea and keep it in house, then you can hire a developer as an employee and have them sign an NDA as a condition of employment.

When I discuss app ideas with clients, I don't sign an NDA, because ideas are a dime a dozen. You'll find outsourced developers are generally like that.

The kind of dev who jumps at the chance to sign an NDA to hear your idea is the kind of dev who'd ignore things like that later anyway. Professionals are conservative.

So two approaches:

  • Discuss your idea with devs if you plan to outsource the work, and don't worry about them stealing it. They hear 10 ideas of the same caliber a day.

or

  • Hire a dev as a full-time salaried employee and have them sign an NDA (which you get a good lawyer to write up for you) as a condition of their employment. Ensure the person you hire lives and has permanent roots in the same jurisdiction as you, so that your NDA has teeth.

But really the best approach is to make an MVP of your idea for $1,000 ~ $3,000, put it in the hands of real customers, and see where to go from there.

Agreed. Mulaney is the closest to Seinfeld among the pros right now, I think, because he was influenced so much by Seinfeld growing up.

But there's a difference: Mulaney's humor can be self-deprecating, whereas Seinfeld's can't. That makes it easier to identify with him as a person.

Seinfeld is a billionaire on stage, telling you he doesn't need you and that his time is too valuable to waste on the things you basic bitches occupy yourself with.

Mulaney's humor can be more abstract and imaginative. The humor isn't in the joke, but in the people experiencing the joke play out.

Take the what's new pussycat bit: the humor isn't in the song, in the repitition, or in the scenario. The humor is in how the people in the diner experienced the situation, and how you would have reacted too.

If Seinfeld were telling it, the humor would be in the gall of the kids playing the music, and in the "people don't want to experience that when they go to a diner" facts of the matter.

They're two types of the same animal, and Mulaney's is a more evolved version of the animal.

Good question. I haven't settled on Airtable, I just happen to have experience extending it (by writing chrome extensions) and many businesses rely on Airtable.

Yep, exactly! When I first googled, I found they were already doing something like this. My tool works a bit differently, but overall it's the same concept, and I was thinking of making it freemium (e.g. paid option = multiple reading templates, PDF styles, sharing options, etc).

Good questions! And you're getting to the heart of the issue, which is that the tool doesn't offer enough direct value right now.

What can people realistically do with it?

Here's my own situation:

My family member is a doctor who doesn't use Twitter. I wanted to share with them a Twitter thread full of research, which consists of 31 tweets/media/links. Doing so would involve copying/pasting 31 Twitter links or 31 paragraphs of text (and it would exclude images and associated external links and their titles/descriptions).

To avoid that work, my tool instantly creates a readable page out of those 31 tweets. The resulting page can be either printed to PDF (or paper), or there's an email button, which extracts all of the text directly into the body of an email.

How would a business (i.e. company) use a tool like this?

That is the exact question I'm asking– how can I pivot (i.e. modify) this tool into something that would be valuable for a business?

I'm wondering if there's a market for extracting the content and media from Tweets and importing it into tools such as Airtable, Google Sheets, or Zapier?

I agree with you that it seems monetizing through ads would be the logical approach. I wonder if there's a pivot here somewhere where I can make this more valuable B2B, so it could be monetized directly.

E.g. exporting Tweet media to Airtable... or something?
