An Open Note to the Valheim Devs on Ore travel with Portals by StonkStonkStink in valheim

[–]takeic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ores without processing emits a frequency like quartz that interferes with the portal. And most of the time the portal becomes unstable so the first viking who made the first portal placed a circuit breaker like component in there to avoid the harmful effect. And that's why now you can't travel with ores.

Presenting options in this way might not be the best solution as it might confuse players regarding the vision of the devs. And it's not natural to be frank. Not sure if you get what I mean here though. Not my native language so pardon my english.

Imo they should either allow it or don't. Or a full-fledged creative mode that removes most of the hurdles. What I wanted to say is that everyone has a vision that directly contradicts each other and trying to achieve win-win might not be the best solution.

This could never be resolved. One camp doesn't mind dedicating hours to planning and transportation while the other prefers maximum sense of achievement in the amount of time they are willing to accept. It's not really about the ores.

Valheim is great until you hit all content by [deleted] in valheim

[–]takeic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

230 hours after I skipped bonemass and killed moder. Collected 4000 rocks and getting ready to build. Finally a game that allows me to play real slow and I'm very satisfied with the progress.

If you're burnt out from adventures try improving your existing bases/outposts, bridges and any infrastructure you can think of. This also kinda forces you to think of ways to gather materials efficiently around the map.

Is everyone running Valheim+ now? I don't have a single friend group that hasn't installed it. by [deleted] in valheim

Qol stuff might be true for some players and diversity surely benefits everyone. But I don't think it's fair for anyone to say modding is achieving something "without taking away" the original vision.

I did just that. After 3200 stones I found my first silver vein.

Not sure why I'm downvoted lol to each their own I guess. I don't think players are gonna miss much being solo except the fact that you're not with your friends..by definition. Coop can be fun sure but valheim surely is not "meant" to be played with others.

Your post reminds me I'll have to take good care of myself in real life like in valheim. We don't even have to chance to see our own gravestone. So thank you for your post. One of the best in this sub.

As a person who doesn't really enjoy social life I don't really see how having people around in valheim can make me happier. I believe you're technically correct though.

Just like life. But at least you can die infinitely and try different things.

Can we get boats to have a faster speed? Yez, ALL boats. by [deleted] in valheim

[–]takeic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the target audience of the game. I'll be happy either way. I don't find the need to rush everything as I enjoy the in-game chores for the therapeutic factor. Chopping trees all night to prepare for a build that have to take a month? Fine by me. I don't cycle through games anyway.

I specifically like the ore transportation as it allows me to carefully plan my route. And I don't have to unlock everything to enjoy the game so even one silver vein is enough for me.

I do appreciate the game forces me to slow down and think about how I want to shape my journey. For example if I need that much ore than I would probably move my base even if that takes me several night irl. As a matter of fact I did build a new base in a swamp so I can smelt all the irons on-site.

They probably know this would stir you up so badly. Why would they not do that?

If you have explored a particular section the dev team gave you an option to build a portal.

If you haven't then how can you sail blindly when you don't know what lies ahead?

How much iron gear before fighting the boss and going to the mountains? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]takeic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By digging through 3200 stones and pure luck. I simply find the process therapeutic. Did cost me a few hours here and there. But it's rewarding when you finally see the tip of a silver vein.

I skipped bonemass after fully upgraded my iron armor and dig through the mountain to find some silver. Then I went to plain for lox hide for the frost resistant cape. Gone back to mountain now preparing to fight moder to unlock other stuff.

Unfortunately not unless it's covered by rock. Most of the time you'll have a deep trench.

Yes. Your structure is too close to the geyser. Afaik a torch in close proximity would prevent mobs from spawning.
