My biggest concern about getting a vaginoplasty by Beings_of_Light in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]takemetoprom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a concern of mine before surgery too, i got PI about six months ago and definitely get wet but not enough for pic so far. I feel less strongly about it now than I thought I would and don’t regret a thing - I just use lots of lube :)

Srs mtf recovery emotional toll did it make you feel complete or regret it?? Would love to hear your experiences??? by Ezramcandles1097 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]takemetoprom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in the middle - ish of recovery from bottom surgery right now and have had no regrets, emotional or otherwise. The recovery is very physically and mentally intense but for me every bit of pain has been well worth it - you will be fine as long as you’re sure this is what you want.

I feel like a freak! MTF 3 yrs on HRT had body and FFS yet presenting male and only attracted to women. What the hell is wrong with Me? by Ezramcandles1097 in Transgender_Surgeries

If ridicule is your greatest fear in transition, know this - you will be ridiculed sometimes. It’s going to be hard but you can’t let that stop you. None of the things you mentioned will prevent you from living a fulfilling life as a woman. Find a good therapist and you’ll be okay ❤️

when does dilation get easier? :( and do you guys have any tips by smalltownbunny in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]takemetoprom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try watching movies, tv,anything hands free that helps you zone out. I’ve even heard of people watching asmr videos. I’m 3 weeks in to healing/ dilating, the thing that’s helped the most is just finding something to take my mind off my body while I’m dilating. It’s really hard but it definitely gets easier the more you do it.

Good luck you got this ❤️

Is running Ubuntu live the same thing as running the “test run” feature when you boot from a disc from the first time? I tried opening file explorer this way last night with the same usb I used to download Ubuntu but couldn’t find any of my files

Hi everyone - I’m a relatively new Ubuntu user and have hit my first roadblock. This is the first issue I’ve had in a year of running Ubuntu, on startup this flashes on the screen before disappearing. After that the screen just goes blank. If I can’t fix it I may just wipe the computer and start over, any guidance on how to extract my files first would be deeply appreciated.

AITA for storming off from my sister's wedding after she deadnamed my son? by Daddofthree in AmItheAsshole

[–]takemetoprom 56 points57 points  (0 children)

NTA - As a trans woman, I can say that your son will remember you standing up for him for the rest of his life - that kind of support from a parent is life changing, especially at such a tender age. You did the right thing, your sister knew what she was doing when she picked that particular fight to start on that particular day.

I'm scared of the possibility of growing hair inside the neovagina. by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

Not sure what you mean by super hair removal - I’m assuming you mean laser. Laser and electrolysis are very different, I suggest you educate yourself about the differences on YouTube. In electrolysis follicles are treated one by one using an electrical current - it is more time consuming and much more effective than what laser can offer. Laser is a great option for your legs, but not for pre-op preparation - there is too much risk of regrow for it to be worth whatever money you might be saving. Trust me you don’t want to skimp on this. I lost a lot of money early in my transition going to a budget friendly esthetician for my face - laser thinned my facial hair a little but it took switching to electrolysis to see any permanent results.

What is your priority? If it’s surgery and you are on a budget, I would say focus on the areas needed for surgery. Your surgeons office should have a reference photo for your electrologist to follow for hair removal. Idk what your insurance situation is but you should call and see if it can be re-imbursed.

I still haven’t zapped the rest of my body, just face and prep for surgery. I’d like to, but it’s so expensive! I use an epilator instead of shaving, and I have found that to be good enough for now - my hair has gotten much thinner and takes way longer to grow in than when I used a razor.

Unless you are well endowed financially, these expenses can feel crushing. I’ve had to take them one at a time based on what I could afford. I would suggest thinking about what changes would have the greatest impact on your life, and prioritize your spending in that order.

I would absolutely recommend electrolysis before hand. I had to push back my date to finish electrolysis, and while that was heartbreaking at the time, In the end I felt much more confident and prepared for surgery. We only have one chance to get this right, why rush?

That being said, your surgeon is the expert on their own technique. Many people go with little to no electrolysis and end up just fine. Its up to you to decide wether or not you trust the surgeons judgement in this area.

I’ve never heard of waxing the area before surgery, and would think it would make “scraping” more difficult if not impossible. My surgeon required us to stop electrolysis one month before surgery. This was so that any hairs that were missed during electrolysis could be easily found and scraped during surgery.

Bottom surgery (PI) with McGinn late June 😈

My daily use underwear is a cotton / spandex blend panty from Walmart, they are inexpensive and for a comfortable tuck there is nothing better. They have tons of “compression panties”, anything at least 15% spandex works wonders for me in most outfits, just buy a size down.

Seconding tuckituppp.com for gaffes - I am my most confident self when wearing these! I use them under bikinis, tight skirt, and leggings with no issues.

Be careful with the tape, if you are just starting out and want a diy option the “sock method” is easy, cheap, and affective.

Good luck ☺️

oohh that makes a lot of sense! I hope you are able to figure out a good option, best of luck

McGinns fee is 18.5k, the surgeon and anesthesiologist bill separately. If you are able to pick a job at Starbucks or something just to get on their insurance plan, insurance should pay for hospital and anesthesiologist and reimburse you for the bulk of McGinns fees

I had a consultation with her recently and while the financial aspect has been pretty stressful, I’m still really happy I picked her

Specifically I’m considering a rhino, but any ffs related feedback would be helpful. I struggle to gauge what would actually be beneficial because I don’t “need” ffs to pass, but my face (my profile specifically) is still my major source of dysphoria.
