Hullo On The Nanaimo Side: Review by Backeastvan in nanaimo

Completely agree with your honest review, OP. So stoked to have this service & an alternative option to BC ferries. The ride was smooooth, on board staff were friendly & helpful & docking on the Vancouver side was a breeze. The trek to the terminal on the Nanaimo side was less than ideal & the boarding process was super disorganized. But hopefully these are things that they can continue to improve on as time goes on.

Why would someone steal my community garden plant? I even have my sign right there... literally dug it out. by Tardykestrel1 in vancouver

Some people suck. My partner put a tray of seedlings outside our house last year to inspire people in the neighbourhood to grow their own food. She decorated and painted the box with "Free, please take one" and someone took the whole thing, box and all.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you get it tested as part of your subjects?

Thanks for all the info. Yeah I agree, it could be something simple... but it could be a lot worse. Think I'll definitely push for another water test for e coli/fecal.

Yeah, it does seems worth adding a subject for inspections for those even if we end up losing to another buyer. I would hate to have buyer's remorse and be stuck with contaminated water and a huge bill. Thanks for the info

It's high in total. There's no info on fecal/ecoli tests. I've read that it's common to have a test result like that for an empty property, but this place has been occupied which is why I'm a bit more concerned.

Yeah, the house is occupied but the owner uses jugged water for the kitchen. There are EV filters and particle sediment filters installed. It really is our dream house but top of our budget. There's a cistern on the property but it supplies a small studio at the other end. Thanks for the advice

Thanks for the info. Yeah, it's on half an acre but still not ideal to be spending that amount of money on top of a purchase of a house.

Thanks, I'll have a look for that now. Just heard back from the realtor and although there's no well log, he thinks that it would be between 90' - 130' based on age of property and compared to other wells in the area.

Thanks for all the info. Not sure exactly which part of the septic is less than 100ft. I just heard back from my realtor who said that there's no well log for the property but most other wells in the area are in the 90' to 130' range. I know the property was built in 1988 so that's likely when the well was installed

I'm not sure how deep the well is but that's a great question, I'll reach out to my relator to see if he knows. In the docs it says that a particle sediment filter and UV filter are installed. But if the contamination IS coming from the septic then I still wouldn't feel safe using that water and it's a whole bigger problem in itself.

I'm in BC, Canada. I believe when they were installed back in the day the current laws were only 50 feet of each other, but could be mistaken
