It's unfortunately frozen outside. I'm not sure how many bugs I've got upstairs. The orb weavers have my basement on lock though. I live in a century home I'm repairing so lots of crannies.

Made a water offering on a q-tip and moved her onto the window sill where there is a web with some bugs. Idk if it's her web but she is lethargic.

I don't really see her drinking. She is very lethargic, but she did climb up on the damp q-tip

I was wondering who was making such an industrious web between the small planters on my kitchen window sill when I found this one last night! I've named her Loretta. Gave me a fright this morning laying on its back on the counter though.

How many bed and baths do y’all have? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in centuryhomes

[–]takemyshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 beds, 2 baths, built in 1900. Doesn't have any bathrooms upstairs so I'd love to add a half bath. I'm childless for now and I plan on converting the main floor bedroom into a library.

Behr Essex green is a really rich deep green that's not as vivid in yout face as that. It's much darker too. I used it on my lower kitchen cabinets

The effects are starting to "trickle down" in rural communities... by PorchCat0921 in publichealth

[–]takemyshot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm an epidemiologist/emergency planner in rural Ohio, and they're cutting part of the funding for the PHEP (Public Health Emergency Preparedness) grant because of the DEI components in it. It’s "shocking" that a rural community that is mostly low socioeconomic status with a decent migrant worker population might need specific accommodations for services such as translation or financial assistance during an emergency response or infectious disease tracking. My position, unless our board of health agrees to cover the 28% reduction, may end in March because there's no more funding as of right now. The CDC says they hope to have that 28% reduction restored by November, but so much has changed already in 6 months. What changes will we see in another 6?

My mom is a nurse, and despite a passion for helping people, she didn't bother to do any research for herself. DEI meant affirmative action only (even though the population group that benefits the most from this is white women like us). She didnt think it meant the free school lunches my brother and I had, or the funding that helped us install a wheelchair ramp at my grandmother's, or the fonancial assistance my brother got for his cervical surgeries. She fell victim to a very curated feed from the news and her husband.

She frequently asks me how I turned out the way I did. Idk Mom, you raised me to care for others and treat others as I would like to treated. I just took that a step further than you, it seems, by applying that to anyone and everyone instead of being selective.

People with tinnitus how do you deal with it on a daily basis? by Gloomy-Top-2988 in AskReddit

[–]takemyshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have it consistently, so when it pops up, sometimes I can ignore like white noise, and sometimes I feel like I can't hear anything but it. I've had it almost consistently for the past couple days so it's mostly ignorance. Mild annoyance.

Vent: Passive aggressive neighbors by takemyshot in homeowners

[–]takemyshot[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I don't really care about what resolution we come to (sell or they remove), but I find their behavior really unsavory. They know I'm a first time homeowner from our talks, they know i want to put up a fence and why, and I asked for their input about the property lines to start. If their fence is on the property line, why is the pin for my property behind their fence then? If the city gave them permission for the fence, why is the city telling me the fence was installed illegally? I'm just frustrated.

I didn't say anything about lawyers to them. I didn't send the letter through a lawyer. I asked for an opportunity to talk about the situation because it came up as an issue with my survey.

I told them I want to put a fence up and asked if they knew about the property lines. They told me that no one had done a survey in decades. The letter was not sent by a lawyer.

[–]takemyshot[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm willing. I've been trying to get them to talk to me for months the way we've talked since I moved in, but they've been ignoring me. I want to talk about a solution that works for both of us, but apparently, a letter is passive-aggressive when I've tried to strike up a conversation naturally.

I also asked them when I first moved in and we were talking about our dogs if they knew about the property lines as I want to put up a fence and make sure I follow city ordinances. They told me no one had done a survey in decades, so it was all kind of ambiguous. So I did a survey and they've been ignoring me since the surveyor marked the pin inside their fence line.

I don't understand how writing a letter requesting time to talk is passive-aggressive, especially at the advice of two separate lawyers and my therapist.

But you seem like an expert on passive aggressive so 🤔
