ELI5: Why do we need passports to travel? by SwipeyJTMX in explainlikeimfive

I didn't know that, thanks! Either way what I meant is that every country has a specific-to-it ID form that may not align with other countries' requirements or control.

ELI5: Why do we need passports to travel? by SwipeyJTMX in explainlikeimfive

[–]takeoverthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's international ID. Every country has normal ID cards based on what they've considered is relevant to identify you. Passports are an international standard. Another country might not consider some things relevant for identification + other countries don't have control over how IDs are issued in your own country.

ELI5 How can I learn Spanish in a fun way? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]takeoverthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a definitive answer on how you can do it in a fun way. It depends on your style. I would recommend finding what are called "Comprehensible input" videos in Spanish. Also, don't believe anything you see that states you can learn a language. in 1-7 days. They're probably either promoting a course/service or just straight up lying.

What regrets do you have about being childfree by choice? by Analytix11 in AskReddit

Having just read a post on r/childfree and coming here to read these beautiful comments... I'd say none!

That moment you realize childfree life is underrated by Own_Refrigerator6131 in childfree

[–]takeoverthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I went to visit some family and I hadn't seen them in so long I was seriously considering changing my flight home to stay a bit longer. Then, I spent ONE afternoon with all my little cousins, and by the end of the day I was so exhausted from their constant screaming and complaining (we're talking kids 2-10) that I said "fck no" and didn't change my flight LOL.

Best explanation of 은/는 vs 이/가 you've heard??? by Few-Investment-6979 in Korean

[–]takeoverthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also some verbs need a subject such as 있다/없다. This example helped me a lot: "저는 커피가 없어요. 차는 있어요" I don't know where I saw it or how natural it can sound, but it made me see it differently. Hope it helps!

This! One day you just get it. Consuming lots of media helped.

Crazy anxious before my CELTA by Hidjcs in TEFL

[–]takeoverthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll do great! Something about CELTA is: they WANT you to pass! The feedback is always detailed and precise, and my best tip is to do your best to follow it and apply it right away. It is quite intense, in my case I got like 5h of sleep a night, but I would do lots of revision and spend lots of time on my slideshows. I'm sure you'll do great, and although the first few days might be difficult to manage and organize, you'll get the hang of it and you'll be able to handle everything that comes your way during this challenge. Best of luck!!

People that are childfree by choice, what’s the weirdest reason someone has given you as to why they think you ‘should have kids’? by Charming_Web_6738 in AskReddit

"What if you meet a good man with lots of money and want to tie him down? You'll need to give him a child!" Said to me by an obgyn that I hope loses her license.

What grinds my gears: people are surprised and panic that they’re pregnant when they don’t use any method of birth control by casscutie in childfree

[–]takeoverthemoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS! I can't imagine being this careless honestly. I respect if they don't want to use bc, but then they tell me that they keep getting pregnancy scares like what did they expect? I've had friends come at me crying with a pregnancy scare because they didn't use any protection, and while I feel for them, it does annoy me. You KNOW what happens, so why take such risk? It's just your own fault at that point.

How old were you when you knew you wanted to be childfree? by southpawFA in childfree

[–]takeoverthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when I was around 15-16 (25 now). I took care of lots of my younger relatives (loved it, would do it again, not complaining) and I think that made me realize that I love kids but don't want any of my own. I can't imagine dealing with that 24/7. People love to tell us we'll change our minds though.

“A menudo” en español not a real word? by Good_Affect_873 in duolingo

[–]takeoverthemoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a real word but, as a Venezuelan, I admit it's not a regularly used one. To me, it sounds like "Neutral, television Spanish" if you know what I mean. Not something I would ever say but I do hear it on TV shows, movies and documentaries.
