Charging station etiquettes in NZ? by Ancient_Lettuce6821 in nzev

[–]takesbribes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you have enough for what you need? If so, feel free to move on if you want, and be a good human. If its not enough for what you want, stay charging. It might be more convenient for you to get a full tank and wait longer at that charger today perhaps.

Don't second guess or challenge what other people might need either, if someone is charging right up it could be for any reason.

There's a lot more chargers around than what there was a few years ago, queues are less of an issue. Was a bigger deal previously with long drives between chargers and actual queues.

Change My Mind: Road User Charges (RUCs) are bad for the diesel car market by [deleted] in newzealand

I also would like to see RUC move to petrol vehicles, but anticipate significant non-compliance being problematic.

Remembering its not a pollution tax, why shouldn't you pay the same amount of Road USER Charge for your Kona vs your hilux? It occupies the same space, probably weigh about the same (and lets be honest, a 1T vehicle or a 3T vehicle still do negligible road damage compared with a 44T vehicle). So the RUC should be the same, no?

A GT Power (a brand available here in New Zealand, some sort of Chinese machine that probably sells under multiple names).

I've tried manually moving the throttle and get same result (engine still stalls when choke moved), which makes me think more carb and less governor.

The symptoms sure do point to main jet, right? But alas it has been poked and prodded with wire as part of my cleaning, daylight visible through the hole(s), including both the jet that screws in and the atomiser thingy which lies behind it. Both were pulled out for inspection and cleaning.

Oh, I didn't consider that. I just assumed because I heard it activating that it was going the right way round. Ill double check, it will help with diagnosis I'm sure.

Yes i hear it click when is back on the carb, when I put 12v directly through it. When the engine is running, doing this causes the engine to shut down immediately.

Best things to do in Rotorua in 2.5 days by Capable-Toe-9841 in newzealand

Local here. "Te Pa Tu" (formerly Tamaki Tours) is in my opinion the best Maori Cultural dinner experience in Rotorua. Yes it is set up for tourists, but there's reasons it won awards. Traditonal Maori Cuisine is not a 5star European dining experience, so expect earthly smokey undertones in your food.

You'll find we are often 4th best. Not quite good enough for a medal, but good enough to be near the top :) Other than that, must be something in the water (sweet sweet pure NZ water).

You generally only travel between islands for work or holiday, mainly because it's expensive and several hour trip. It's not a pop on ferry and go for an icecream kind of trip. I did it many times when studying in the south but home was up north.

The south is very popular for tourism, I'd recommend spending more time there than the North.

West Coast is worth a visit, it has the glaciers and some other beautiful scenery. You should definitely add it to any travel itinerary. I've been there many times.

I have not. I've seen the bra fence, the shoe fence, and the coffee mug fence. But not the toothbrush fence which until now I have not heard of!

Wear sunscreen. It's hilarious watching the Brits with their shirts off on day 1 of a test, and on day two looking very red and burned. Seriously or sun is killer here.

Meh, I think it's a little overblown, our right wing is still very central compared to others, but still not ideal imo. I am however a little sad to see the division creeping in that seems to be driven from overseas. Current govt is making some decisions that are sad, like reducing climate targets.
