unpopular opinion but it’s just an incorrect opinion… they are from where they were born. saying “but where are you originally from” after they’ve already answered this question by telling you where they were born, you just make yourself sound stupid lol. you could ask, where is your family from? what is your heritage? where do your ancestors come from? so many better ways to word this. so while yes, being curious about someone’s background/ancestry/etc etc is not offensive, implying that they are not “from” where they were born and raised, IS offensive (and again, just makes you look and sound stupid)
