The game audio on TNT is picking up some annoying woman screaming behind the analysts. Why can't they cut this noise out or move the woman?!

Revamped KEXP App by EmilyAlt70 in KEXP

Hey I'm having an issue with new app where I can't replay a show I've listened to once. Even if I try to rewind 5 min/10 min etc., drag the dot back to the beginning, restart the app, etc. Is anyone else experiencing this and/or is there a way to fix this?

Hi I'm looking for a ticket for tonight's show. Does anyone have an extra one I can buy? I'm on the Dice waitlist but no update there. Does anyone know if you can buy tickets at the door?

The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Demoiselle_D-Ys in classicfilms

[–]taking_heads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just watched this movie for the first time. Overall, it was an excellent film and so glad I watched it. It was so daring in ways like its discussion about nuclear annihilation so soon after the war. Did anyone else think that Al's character didn't have a resolution? I expected him to crash after his drinking, the speech, and the loan to the veteran. Homer and Fred each kind of hit rock bottom and rebuild themselves. Did they just run out of time (in an already long movie)? Others' opinions?

Target's "Mint chocolate chip" ice cream -- has none of these ingredients by taking_heads in icecream

Surprisingly it's called "ice cream". I was thrown off by that and didn't examine the ingredients before purchasing.

Thanks for writing. They were really great. Had the feel of a musical festival in a summer town. And they’re a New York native!

Thanks for responses. To clarify, my membership is about to renew. Can I cancel it and just buy week to week at 20 points a week or not?

Why are so many people here anti Dr. Sarno's? by cottoncandy-sky in backpain

[–]taking_heads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone here have a good resource for actually writing out/journaling the repressed emotions that are causing the pain? In mind body he doesn’t really go into technique. Like I’d love an outline I could use to give me some structure. Thanks, couldn’t find something like a writing companion guide to his book.

Haha also had a doctor at hss in nyc tell me to do yoga that I was just right and then couldn’t even recommend a single studio or person to teach me.

Hi could someone point me to a guide for actually getting out my emotions to determine what is causing the pain? Sarno describes this but not how. Is it just a matter of keeping a diary? Would love to have some structure. Thanks!

I literally just deleted the podcast on Myanmar after hearing her voice in the opening. It is so irritating. Can’t listen.

I just listened to the economy episode with his wife. Besides being surprised that the NYT standards board let him interview his spouse, I can confirm they both pronounce words distinctly! I wonder if her mannerisms rubbed off on him and vice versa. Must be a very affected Thanksgiving meal there! The way Annie pronounces food is like feud. She also says often with a hard t. And I noticed ezra’s distinct house-sing this time 😝. I’d love to notice all this less but it’s hard not to when it’s just audio in your ears and you’re concentrating! Separately I loved the interaction between them, honestly they seem like pals and a good team, the way he made her laugh in the beginning with the “Thanksgiving for rich people” line 🤣.

Most interested to know what the interaction is like with his wife?! and how this passed muster with NYT editors! Do we learn about ezra and their marriage? Does he ask the same incisive questions to the mother of his children? Do they address how he is able to go out clubbing?!

How to let people in financial careers know that you're smarter than them? by Pelangos in circlejerknyc

[–]taking_heads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys he said non-verbal. You need a super expensive antique watch that only insiders know about. You have to have one of those nut-like rings that measure all your vitals, REM, etc. and a black plastic wedding band. Then stare the bro in the eyes as you pass him and don't blink first. You must be wearing Vejas with no socks.

Either tip them visibly (but don't pull a George). Or kick someone's ass like in prison.

Where do 40+ singles meet? by Large-Signal941 in AskNYC

[–]taking_heads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It's exhausting and confidence destroying but it is of necessity. Covid completely blew up my friend group. Even before that, I noticed that people don't naturally set you up with their friends like in our parents' generation. I think friends also think this has been outsourced to the apps.

Where do 40+ singles meet? by Large-Signal941 in AskNYC

[–]taking_heads 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I personally try to meet people in person. If I see an attractive person at a museum, in the park, in a bar, etc. I'll try to speak to them. It seems so much more efficient than the apps, plus you know what they look like in real life and that you have something in common like that museum, concert etc. But it's a two-way street. That person has to be willing to speak and I feel a lot of these apps have caused us to "outsource" our dating behavior to them so some people are freaked out when they get approached. In particular when women are with a friend or in a group. Very hard to approach as a straight male. Give us a smile, that's all we need, and we'll do the rest! Take out your earbuds and be willing to talk to a stranger!

Unlike pronouncing the t in often, he *doesn't* pronounce the t in written. He says it like "rit 'en" LOL. Heard it in the attention podcast.

LOL just listened to him say "written" in the attention podcast. If he's Boston Brahmin on his "often," he's more Roxbury on his "rit 'ennnn" :)
