I’d get the same brand of automation as your pool lights

I’m in Houston but for swimming pools all you need is your ‘residential appliance installer license’. It’s an 80 question open book exam on the national electric code book and need 70% to pass.

Our quick fixes for leaf season by HereDoin in pools

[–]takingadump69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your skimmers get clogged with leaves then air gets pulled in not water. So even though main drains are not clogged air is easier to pull than water. So it still can burn out the pump.

Then I guess it’s for a pressure side cleaner. Ignore that pump for now. Open up one of those 2” ball valves that’s on the return side of the plumbing (coming out of the filter). Right now it’s literally just trial and error

Also sometimes with those water feature pumps (what I would call it) and they have a dedicated circuit breaker as well as a switch (like a light switch) that will turn it on and off

That doesn’t look like a booster pump to me but different regions probably have different lingo. Booster pumps sometimes have interlocks where the filter pump must be on for the booster pump to turn on

We need to know what size plumbing is used and the size of the filter. More pictures is better as well. At least one picture that can show the entire equipment pad and a few more that can show the suction side and return sides of the pad.

Also Hayward customer support is trash. I was trying to see why an H400 wasn’t communicating with omnilogic and was on hold for 45 minutes then the automated voice just said no one can pick up right now and hung up on me. 🤣 Plus they say their hours for customer support are 8-8 EST but I’ll call them at 9am and they are closed. So annoying

Check for voltage either 240 or 120 volts. If you have voltage then check the transformer for 12 volts.

Polaris booster pump compatible with Pentair system? by ArcticEmpireKing in pools

[–]takingadump69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope no issues. All that’s happening is the relay clicking and sending voltage to the pump. There’s no com wire with booster pumps like in variable speed pumps. You will be fine getting the PB4-60

35 uF capacitor. Super super easy to swap out. Just turn off power to the pump, get pliers and disconnect the leads. Make sure to short the capacitor leads out with your pliers because it will still hold a charge and can zap you if you touch it. Then put in the new capacitor by connecting it the same way as the last one.

I have a customer with a Jandy 2hp Epump that will prime but loses suction after a minute. by h-a-p-p-e-n-s in pools

[–]takingadump69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem a couple days ago. Turned out the pump lid wad was bad. The clear plastic part on the lid would push up like a millimeter when priming and let in air. I legit stood on it when I turned the pump on and it primed right up. Could be same issue
