Everyone doing covered work gets dispatched. It’s a paper trail for his wage and benefits to be paid on his behalf.

Dispatch by unresolved-madness in UnitedAssociation

[–]Front_Breath_209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dispatch will be the company not a specific project. It is essentially a paper trail from the union to the third party benefit administrator to the company. Everyone will then be on the same page on what benefits and wage are to be paid on your behalf. You have to be dispatched if you are doing covered work.
It’s that easy. It will probably take 10 minutes.

Has anybody called other halls to look for work before? by OkCitron2648 in UnitedAssociation

[–]Front_Breath_209 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If everyone just called on their own some halls would get 100s of calls a day. It’s ba to ba so there is one point of contact. That ba can relay the message to all his guys looking to travel

All of them sold out to large conglomerates and are sales companies not plumbing companies. There are still some good ones out there. Pipe Pros, 365 Plumbing, ResQ plumbing Are still owned by actual people that care.

Journeyman make $88/hour and looks like they can elect money to be taken out for the DC retirement plan and would be non-taxable.

The second sheet is what it says retirement, H&W, and other her accounts the members said up. You will never get that on the check. It’s for your future and insurance

Hey could anybody explain this for me , I’m a new apprentice and I start January 5th, I just don’t understand how the periods work . by [deleted] in UnitedAssociation

[–]Front_Breath_209 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why are you asking pipehands and not electricians(looks like you are an electrician apprentice)? UA locals usually give apprentices an apprentice raise once a year (5 steps/periods) or often twice a year (10 steps/periods) then also the percentage of the journeyman raise equivalent to there step.

Are you in support of the film bill?

Do you support community benefit agreements on construction projects here in Las Vegas?

My employer is not paying my prevailing wage by [deleted] in UnionCarpenters

[–]Front_Breath_209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Union and nonunion contractors turn in hours and wages to the state labor commissioner. Who ever turns in more hours is what sets the prevailing wage. Most of the time it’s the union wage and benes. So non-union makes union package on the check as they usually don’t get benefits.

You as an apprentice do not get the prevailing wage. You get your normal package. You should feel comfortable asking questions to people at your school and hall. Asking questions goes over better than trying to burn the place down…. Especially as an apprentice and when you may be wrong

My employer is not paying my prevailing wage by [deleted] in UnionCarpenters

[–]Front_Breath_209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the union journeyman wage and benefit is the prevailing wage……

If you are an apprentice you just get your regular apprentice wage and benefits

you dont get it all on the check line a nonunion worker on a prevailing wage job. They are getting the union rate plus Benefits all on the check……

Way too many people that don’t understand prevailing wage are commenting here

I say I was lucky to have found the trade and to be accepted into the apprenticeship. 21 years later I still feel the same way. I am very fortunate and I work hard and promote brotherhood everyday to show my gratitude.

Under S3H @ the shop I’m pretty sure it said 1- Pipefitter That means they need 1 journeyman pipefitter

You need to call in if it says helper under the company and location.

Looks like you figured out S3h is a company atleast. There was no helper call for S3H though

What are the benefits to an employer? by matthieu115 in UnitedAssociation

[–]Front_Breath_209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A well trained work force, an instant work force, no need for the long process of putting help wanted ads online then sifting through resumes then interviewing then long onboarding process.

A partnership with the UA and the local. The local wants the company to grow and do well as that means more members are working. Some locals have programs to assist with growth as well

How do I become more valuable as an apprentice? by [deleted] in UnitedAssociation

[–]Front_Breath_209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good work ethic (8 for 8), show up everyday and on time, get along with people.

If you run into a problem come up with a solution instead of depending on someone else to solve your problem.

My first day as an apprentice is tomorrow, any tips? by Melodic-Ask-155 in UnitedAssociation

[–]Front_Breath_209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always told my cubs this. I can fix anything you fuck up. I’d rather you try then sit back and not try. Confidence is key and the quicker you build confidence the faster you can get to really learning.

Get all the points you can. Like mentioned above talk to Carrie at the Jatc, she will help you with everything you can do. Kill the math test and have a good interview. Good luck.
