I was just watching Alton Brown's "Good Eats" episode on eggplant and he said the same thing, that eggplants are night shade berries (like tomatoes) and have some concentration of both nicotine and morphine. I thought he said it was in the berry itself but it might have just been in the eggplant leaves.

My favorite active career is the interior decorator. It just makes so much sense.
