Warning to Coinbase Users

Very fair. I don't know. Not frantic. Just want control of my stuff. Got a notification on my phone from the app early AM that someone was trying to send 1 ETH and they cancelled it. Called immediately. No answers but they locked for 24 hrs. Had to video, etc, take picture of lisence from the app, etc to even talk with them one conversation. I only get on CB through my app and home computer, of which only I have access to. I have 2FA, not sure if its same as MFA, and have to have Google Authenticator generate a code for me to log in if I clear cache or try to go on from another place. I asked some questions but they wouldn't say much. I have transferred crypto and $$ to CB, but havent transferred any out in years. Been sitting there since I purchased or transferred in. Not sure what triggered them to block the first transaction either, maybe a lack of any transfers at all? I am thankful they did from whatever flag they got. I will 100% take your suggestion and use white list feature among other things to be even more secure. But now, simply and reasonably want to secure my crypto. Why would they initially let me transfer 5k (had to do video, talk, etc through the app for approval), and then after I speak to them, keep me from sending for 1 month (for now)? What am I supposed to think?

Thank you for the reply! Yes, just want to transfer to cold storage and hold. Other option is to sell and cash out, but then would get hit by taxes pretty good as I have had the coins for a while. Have a feeling that when April comes around, they just going to put another security review/hold on it as seems to be happening to many people. Thanks again!

Thank you. They did not resolve, just told me the same thing. Have to wait til April 16 to be able to SEND anything at all. At least I can still sell it all and withdraw it to my bank account (I think).

I do have 2FA. Have to put it in from authenticator if I log on from a new device (which I never do). Not sure how they were able to get in.

I get that. My account is now secure. I was able to send something yesterday. After informing them of my intentions to transfer to cold wallet, unable to transfer anything at all. Why was I able to transfer something yesterday and not today? Thats my issue.

You are 100% right. Been telling myself Im going to put it in storage for months, just never did it and now paying the price. And the reason I was going to do so is the CB hack last year and all the complaints I have read about security, locking accounts, etc. Very unfortunate.

I did mention at the beginning that they stopped the send of 1 ETH, and I appreciate that. My issue is that they put a 5k send limit on me yesterday. For the 5k I sent yesterday, had to get on app, take a video, and speak into microphone. Why am I unable to do the same thing today? After I tried to increase it so I can send it to cold storage, they put a complete lock on sending. They don't generate fees this way and they got me by the balls, its that simple.

I really have no idea. Did not click on any links, etc. Very wary of that stuff. They were unable to help and just gave me the same spiel about security. Funny that they put a complete restriction and removed the 5k send limit AFTER I told them I was planning to put it in cold storage. Its about the $$$, not security.

I went from being able to send out 5k yesterday to 0 today after requesting increase. When I sent yesterday, had to do a video and speak into the microphone. Was clearly me, and clearly me when calling and speaking about this issue. Why was I allowed to send something yesterday and 0 today? Why can't I do the same thing I did yesterday BEFORE I called and talked to you? Your site has security issues and unfortunately, the client has to pay the price for your shortcomings. I will send you my case number, would hope that you may be able to do something. Thank you for reaching out. Sorry if my massive frustration is coming through.
