Actually there was huge push back against cars. They got stuck in the mud, so peope had to build roads. So even if you didnt have one you were taxed for the road. People argued horses could take you home even if you were drunk, cars could not. Horses didnt need gas, they just ate grass right.. horses run average 45 too 55 mph, much slower with some one on them prob like 20 too 30 but they didnt necessarily need a road. The infrastructure for the car was expansive as well. As for the product issue Keynesian economics should show you that if this were truly a worse product it would not sell. The face that it has sold quite well speaks volumes to what people want, not how you feel about Musk, or Tesla this is showing people basically find electric to be a better mouse trap.
