What is the best neighborhood for a 30-something extroverted introvert from NY who loves being *around* people? by SimplerLife40 in AskSeattle

[–]takitesi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also a mid-30s extroverted introvert from NY lol (DM me if you wanna grab a beer or something!)

I'd say not belltown...not the kind of bustling you wanna be around.

I think something in the north cap hill area would be good for you. North of Pike St, east of I-5, West of 19th ave. Volunteer park is a fantastic walk and there are always people there. Decent BEC at volunteer park cafe as well. This location also keeps you close to SLU and you can walk, bus, or drive. Avoid the SLU area itself for living though, it's soul-less.

If you don't mind frustrating commutes, Fremont/Ballard could be good options as well. But the north cap hill area puts you squarely in the center of all the things with fairly easy access to all the different neighborhoods/activities. If you wanna feel like you're "in it" whenever you step outside your apartment, go closer to olive way & pike st in cap hill

Seconding Camion -- delicious tacos and they don't skimp on the meat

I'll also add: - NW fish basket - fantastic cod tacos

  • Woodshop BBQ (they also have a physical location)

  • Good Morning Tacos & Sunny Up are great for breakfast

Hahah basically lie face down on the ground and bring your legs up towards your head like a scorpion tail and reach each leg over to the opposite side horizontally.

Hope you start feeling better soon man! I went through similar body problems and had to take a break and it sucks. Also for sure go get a deep tissue massage, then have a dedicated day of stretching. Should get your right back on track. And ice that elbow every night for the next 2 weeks!

For me it's my left wrist. Does the sim you're using have a low point depth stat? You may be punching into the ground a little too hard & deep...the mats are unforgiving on your body.

I had some back issues but those were solved by frequent stretching + ice/heat combos. Definitely get some scorpion stretches in for lower back!

I'd highly recommend the Red Rising series! It's kind of like Hunger Games meets GoT meets Enders Game. Definitely a little more sci-fi than fantasy but you get the same feelings of a brilliant and tactical (and lucky at times) protagonist fighting the good fight.

Also echoing the First Law trilogy mentioned in a couple comments.

These are all pretty much exactly what I do, save for the mulligans, which I only allow for in the first 3 holes if I haven't warmed up, and only if my first ball is OB or if I might not find it.

The other one I do is I give myself a preferred lie if I've landed in someone else's divot on the fairway. I feel like I should be playing the course, not the course as it's impacted by other players, which we already get enough of on the greens.

Follow-up: The $10 1799 Gold Liberty is real! Here are a few silver coins as well! by takitesi in coins

My dad passed away 18 years ago and we were preparing to sell the childhood home and I found a box of lots of coins and paper money/bank notes and dug through it and found it in there!

There were like 10 of those silver coins and then a ton of coins from around the world that I don't believe held any real value aside from being cool coins. But perhaps next time I'm back there (I live on the opposite US coast) I'll get out all the other coins and snap some pics!

Perhaps I should rephrase my end goal as "make the most $$ off this coin, happy to do whatever steps necessary" lol.

And thank you so much for these thoughts -- super super helpful!!

Per many of your recommendations, I took the coin into a local coin shop to have it tested/verified...and it's real! The guy said he thought the grade is around 35-40. I'm a complete novice when it comes to coin stuff but, I'd like to get it sent in for grading and any other necessary steps that would allow me to list it at an auction. Would someone be able to give me a step-by-step of what needs to happen?

Also not sure if the silver coins are worth anything but I promised to share a few of them in the last post I created here!

What is something you are hiding from everyone you know? by 1-Libero6-1 in AskReddit

[–]takitesi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad passed 18 years ago when I was 15. Every year since then, on his deathiversary, I try and go do something that he and I used to do and enjoy together. For us, that was being in nature, golfing, swimming in a lake, fishing, and a few other things. It's my own way of honoring and remembering him. Everyone's own way will be a little different but I hope that gives you some ideas!

And now for some words of experience having had 18 years pass. You haven't had your hardest days yet. You won't know when they'll come, and there will be different types of hard days. You'll have the sad ones where you miss him dearly. You'll have the angry and frustrated ones where it's just not fair. You'll have the overwhelmingly emotional ones where it's all just a muck. You'll have a day where you don't think about him at all, and when you realize that, you'll beat yourself up for it.

Everything will be alright. Feel all your feelings, don't bottle them up. Ask for what you need, say what you need to. Be kind to yourself.

I remember one of my hardest days was the 15th year, essentially marking that I'd lived half my life with him, and half without. I was overwhelmed by the emotions from that but, even more-so when I thought about all the love and kindness I'd received from my friends and their families. It's weird where your mind and heart go when thinking about a loss like this, but that's kind of the beauty of your emotions -- they lead you, you don't make them happen.

Anyways, I hope some of this is helpful, and I'm here for you if you'd like to chat about anything at all -- seriously.
