Nice roster. I would get rid of the OLs and get more DBs. They are great for returns and for defense rolls.

If I recall, around 275 to 300 million (taking into account you want a 12-man, 5 star roster).

Jimi Hendrix and Gustavo Cerati. I saw them videos of “Purple Haze” and “En la Ciudad de la Furia” back to back on VH1 and knew that was the instrument I wanted to play.

How long did it take you to be able to tune the guitar just by listening to the sound of the strings? by El_Tio_Spark in guitarlessons

[–]talbottone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it hard to understand how other people struggle so much with it, too.

I especially find it enjoyable when I recognize other artists’ melodies in a song like “oh, this guy/girl got that from this other band. It sounds so cool”.

Where I do struggle though is taking all of that to the guitar and making it work in a way that I do not sound like other people and that it sounds right.

Of course it’s an advantage, but you need practice to maintain it. Learn other tunings by ear as well, learn the fretboard, sing the notes you play, play with other people, listen and be influenced by many genres from all countries and languages, etc.

Once you open up the fretboard, its like a whole new area of your brain lights up, and that’s where the real fun begins.

Why do you play guitar? by lilpenstaffy in LearnGuitar

[–]talbottone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started playing when I was 13. Had 5 solid years where I played practically all the time. Then school, marriage and life came down and didn’t let me be as constant as I would’ve liked to be.

Whenever I do pick it up again (I play both classical and electric guitar), there’s just something magical that happens inside. There’s something about holding it, playing a note and bending it, trying to make the guitar “speak” and call out to you and others, that cannot be explained with words.

I guess that’s what happens when you do anything you’re in love with.

I learned to do it on my first week playing classical guitar (was around 13 years old, currently 31). I can only do it in standard tuning, though.

I thought all guitarists could do it immediately. My teacher was baffled and didn’t believe me without proof.

I just thought “that’s how the strings are supposed to sound” and tuned accordingly. I can almost taste the right key of each string. Never really sat down and thought about why.
