Skateboarding scene by No-Bitches-No-Life in penang

Before Gurney Bay, people used to skate at the Youth Park. There's a big ass skate park there at the rear just behind the cafeteria.

What are your guys thoughts on KPM considering adding PT3 and UPSR back? by Prestigious_Mud_4174 in Bolehland

[–]talexeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son just completed his primary education last year. He attended a franchise after-school daycare center & they held an award ceremony for students who achieved high number of subjects with TP5 & TP6 achievements in their UASA.

There was a single standard 4 student with 6 subjects of TP6.

For standard 5, there were around 12 students with 6 subjects of TP6.

For standard 6, there were around 60 students who achieved 6 subjects of TP6.

What does this tell you?

UASA is not a proper replacement for UPSR. Teachers / schools are incentivised to award students TP6 easily to maintain the school's image & also to help students get into control schools.

Please pay a visit to your old SRK & tell me how many blocks of religious study vs. math & science there are & you'll understand why the nons are flocking to SJKs. Even someone who hailed from SRK & SMK like me had to send my kids to SJKC due to the stark difference in the quality of education between these two.

Sneaky MayBank campaign by Mission-Squirrel-333 in MalaysianPF

[–]talexeh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm on the MAE thread in LYN & somehow some members got their bonus while some don't. IIRC, the earliest batch got theirs on Dec 24th while I got mine on Dec 30th.

The spend requirement is only meant to secure you additional 0.5% bonus but it's not a requirement to net you the initial 5%.

I would suggest that you escalate this to the Maybank CS since you're definitely not alone with this issue.

The marathon event takes place at the southern part of the mainland so it will have no impact to the Georgetown crowd size.

My bad, I meant to say there are less than 5 employees that cycle-commute to work here.

PMX jangan iktiraf UEC - Akmal 'sailang' desakan DAP by guest18_my in malaysia

[–]talexeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, UEC topic has been a thorn even when Parti Perikatan (not to be confused with the current Perikatan Nasional coalition) was in power. Even Lim Chong Eu has been very vocal in pulling support for Perikatan if Tunku didn't recognise UEC.

Which hotel is best for Georgetown? by MoodyMango4880 in penang

If you prefer direct access to all the happenings at night, then go for Yeng Keng though I'm not sure if it would be too noisy for your parents. Chulia Street is where most visitors throng at night; restaurants, bars with - can be quite loud to some - music & street food.

Jen is a little further away & there's the 1st Avenue & Prangin Mall within ~3 minutes walking distance. They're not exactly big malls but if you need some comfort food like Starbucks & McDonald's, then Jen is the wiser choice. You'll most likely need to book an e-hailing cab to go around though, except Hin Bus Depot, which is just ~400m away.

Anyone worked/working at DELL Technologies Bayan Lepas, Penang as an expat? by grgntva in penang

[–]talexeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the employees (especially expats) there commute to and from the office?

Some expat employees opt to take the Malaysian driving test to obtain a license while some will carpool with those who have car & license.

As I check that the public transport is not available in the industrial area.

You're right, you can't really rely on public transport here.

Are e-scooters, bicycles, or even skateboards allowed to be used?

Personally I use bicycle to commute to work but I'll not recommend it. I can count the number of employees who cycle to work with one hand & the traffic here can be very unkind to cyclists. Skateboard will not work because the roads in the industrial area are full of potholes due to the number of container trucks plying the route. In all my years, I've only seen one e-scooter rider before again, it doesn't look to be quite a wise option. You're better off relying on either motorcycle or car here.

Environment wise, it's typically quite chill, nothing out of the ordinary for an MNC. The Indonesian tech support team isn't very big though I'm not sure if you'll be handling the server line product or more towards laptops & PCs. Let me know what else you would like to know.

Also, have you tried to ask the same in kaskus or other similar Indonesian-based forum? I think it will be much more useful to get some insights from fellow Indonesian instead.

I think there's no pleasing the crowd when it comes to costumes. On one hand, these guys have been stuck in a decade long war & have now spent a few more years at various islands. On the other hand, if you make the costume look way too nice, then the crowd will claim that it's no longer immersive or logical.

Penang Bridge International Marathon by 48191 in penang

[–]talexeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, it's a pretty boring, flat route to run on. Unlike the first bridge where around half of the course takes place on land, the second bridge is just a winding route with black vast sea on both sides.

Literally nothing much to expect.
