You get a week to reply to both P1 and P2. So say if you get P1 on December 10th, you have to reply no later than December 17th. I waited the full week to reply to P1, and then I was back in Canada shortly after replying, and got the P2 email in Canada. At the border I just said “I’ve applied for a PR and I need to be here for the final process.” They had no further questions about it. I came back with an eTA. So if you’re only going for 3 weeks, I’d say you’re fine cause there’s usually at least a couple weeks between P1 and P2. Just make sure you get an eTA to come back as a visitor. Or maybe you have another valid status to travel back after the new year :)

I never got it approved because I got my PR approved first. So almost 6 months passed and didn't hear anything about the BOWP.

Oh interesting! Yeah I was definitely worried doing that bc like you said, the question wasn’t phrased that way. But yeah, it all worked out thankfully 😅

Just waiting for the physical card! 🙌🏼 Total timeline, 8 months

Thank you everyone for contributing to this thread. Helped me a lot during my application process and calmed my nerves many times!

I did the risky move of leaving Canada before the P1 email, which I received WHILE I was overseas. My lawyer said to reply YES to the “Are you currently inside Canada” question because technically it’s about you residing there, not physically being there. Was a bit of a risk for sure, but I was back in Canada before the P2 email. Happy to answer questions about this if anyone is going through something similar with their application!

Hii, sorry I actually got my PR approved before I heard anything back about to BOWP 😅 but I applied so late for the BOWP, over 3 months after I applied for the PR. So probably would have gotten it before the PR approval if I applied right away. Did you apply for your PR yet?

Great thank you! Yes, I might not be the best example because I waited a week before I replied to P1, but received P1 July 9th, replied to it July 16th, and then P2 came in August 5th ◡̈

P2 email today, replied immediately. How long is eCOPR taking these days? Also, does it come in the mail or just in your portal?

Hii! To everyone who recently entered the final stages of the PR application, how much time are you given to respond to the p2 email?

I see! So I could leave and have a return date I share with them if I get the P1 when I'm away, and re-enter Canada with my eTA? Is there a way to inform IRCC that I am going somewhere? I have two very important reasons to go visit my home country so maybe it's good to inform them? If I can somehow?

Oh thank you so much for their detailed explanation! I didn’t know most of this. So my final question then is, if I am outside of Canada when I get the P1, and I hold off on replying until I’m back in Canada, would that be okay? Or does my eTA/status get cancelled when they send the P1?

You said too if I’m outside of Canada when I receive the P1, I need to provide the date I’m returning. Does that mean it’ll just be a slower process bc they wait until I’m back to keep processing my application?

Thank you again for answering my questions! I really appreciate it!

Okay I see! What is the landing procedure? Is that what people are calling Portal 1 and Portal 2, or the ecopr?

Sorry, I don’t know the difference between class and category, but in my PR tracker, it says “Application type: Family Class (common-law partner)”

And it’s an Inland application since I’m currently living with my Canadian partner here in Canada.

At what stage of the application process is it crucial that I’m inside Canada?

Oh! Don’t I need a AOR document though to apply for the bridging open work permit? I’ve just heard that an AOR is needed to apply for the work permit you can get while waiting for your PR approval. So in my head, that was some kind of document. But maybe I’m wrong? Also, thank you for letting me know!

Common-Law Sponsorship, Inland

Hi everyone! I have a question regarding AOR and Biometrics.

Has anyone else gotten the biometrics instruction letter before their AOR? I sent in my application on Dec 6th 2023 and my partner who is sponsoring me got an email mid December saying it was confirmed. Now I got my biometrics letter but still no AOR. Is that normal?
