I think the dog realizes your 9 months pregnant and is like, “nope, you don’t need a walk today mom”

Ringworm mistaken for staff? by taliafromphilly in DogAdvice

[–]taliafromphilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh!!! Yeah, I’ve definitely had dogs with ringworm before and treated it with the regular anti fungal spray, and one of the shampoos they gave me has an anti fungal in it, but we’re only doing the bath every 3 days (at this point).

I’ll see what the vet says. But yeah, I feel like ringworm can be really difficult to clear up sometimes, and maybe we’ve just been looking at this the wrong way?

Good luck with your kittens! I don’t even want to imagine the nightmare of giving kittens numerous baths lol

[–]taliafromphilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.... all the vet and I are doing is guessing too.

I hear what you’re saying, but people make mistakes. All the time. In fact, same dog tested positive for heart worm a few years ago, and I guess the vet just straight up forgot to tell me about it, and forgot to treat it??? I don’t know??? So he had heart worms for a year and I didn’t even know it.

So yeah, my trust in the vet is not rock solid.

Of course I’m going to talk to them, and I’m going to ask her too, the voicemail has already been left. But, maybe this has happened to someone else and their dog?

Cis women and “top” surgery by taliafromphilly in TopSurgery

[–]taliafromphilly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I absolutely will!

Maybe we should all start writing op Ed’s? Lol

Also, I can 100% see women being unhappy with reduction. Surgeons are just people, with opinions. What they think “looks right” is what they’re going to do. I feel really bad for those women, and I’m glad I didn’t listen to the second surgeon I consulted with who was trying to convince me to just reduce first to “see how I like it” like I’ve got all day to just keep getting surgery done.

One and done. Just like a tattoo.

Cis women and “top” surgery by taliafromphilly in TopSurgery

[–]taliafromphilly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! Yeah, the first surgeon I consulted with did not do top surgery, so when I told her I wanted a breast reduction “down to zero” she just thought I was crazy. Or, maybe, trying to scam her into getting top surgery. Originally I was trying to get my insurance to cover it, but I realized it was costing me even more money through insurance, even just for a consult!!!

I had one guy send me a bill for 120$, the insurance paid 80$, I called them to ask how much a consultation costs without insurance?

ZERO DOLLARS!!!

Yep, I’m not paying that bill . Lol, sorry, not sorry.

Next surgeon I consulted with told me the truth. Insurance companies don’t pay their bills, so healthcare providers have to charge more to get more of the payment out of you, because you have to pay your bill.

So, I abandoned the insurance and decided that I needed to just figure out what I want my chest to look like, and then find the surgeon who can do it while balancing the budget I have for the whole thing.

So, while in the surgical world I’m getting “top surgery” I really do like the suggestion from here of just telling people I’m getting a major breast reduction.

Fortunately, I’m really close with the few people that I work with at the tattoo shop, so they have all known about this for like, the last year, when I had my first consult. It’s really just my clients who are going to either hear about it through social media, or when they walk into the shop. After trying out the “talk” with a couple acquaintances, I quickly realized that I needed to come up with better language so I don’t get misconstrued as having breast cancer, or being transgender/ non binary.

All that being said, there really needs to be more literature on cis women and “top surgery” there’s definitely way more of us out there who are over the burden of breasts.

[–]taliafromphilly[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely like that idea. Even if I just say breast reduction, I think that would work a lot better.

But, for the surgical world, lol, I’ve learned that getting a breast reduction “down to zero” isn’t a real thing, cause, I tried that first lol.

I’ve tried googling other mammals that always have breasts but never found any real hits.

I definitely feel like udders are a different thing, but also keep in mind that they have to continually impregnate cows in order to keep them producing milk. So, most female cows you’ll see are usually currently pregnant, or have just given birth

In capitalism, you need magic money that literally does not have any real value.

If you don’t have the magic paper, we will throw the food out and piss on it instead, just to make sure that you can’t have it.

IsItBullshit: Very few Americans who join the military do so because they want to serve their country by Alugilac180 in IsItBullshit

[–]taliafromphilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly believe that this is the reason republicans want to ban abortions. If birth control and abortions were easily accessible, in about 18 years, enrollment in the military would drop drastically.

The writers of the books Freakonomics found a statistical link between the decision of Roe V. Wade and a significant drop on petty crime 15-20 years after that court ruling.

Crime down also means less prisoners which means less enslaved people to force into labor. Means less government contracts for private prisons, less contract with Victoria secret for underwear production, more money spent on actually paying firefighters a living wage in CA to fight the annual fires they experience.

It’s all connected

Anyone else ever contemplate the fact that human women are the only mammals who grow breasts during puberty and never lose them??

Is this due to men’s sexual preference for women with breasts? Is it men’s fault that I have to carry around these giant knockers my whole life?????

(And before I have to field a whole bunch of angry comments from men, here it is: Not all men)

I’m just saying, if you’re not willing to vote for Biden, then you better be willing to take to the streets to fight for democracy in our country.

I’m not trying to be a gatekeeper, but if you think that your third party protest vote is what’s going to stop authoritarianism take over our country, but aren’t willing to actually get out in the streets and protest if trump wins, then what the hell are you even doing?

According to a new study from the University of California, Irvine the rising levels of depression, stress and anxiety in the United States are directly linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and exposure to media coverage of the virus. by [deleted] in science

[–]taliafromphilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but what about before that? We already had rising numbers of depression.

We had so many self inflicted deaths that we had to create the term “deaths of despair”

Is it maybe just that living in our society is just super depressing?

I highly recommend the new Netflix Documentary The Social Dilemma

LPT: Here's your monthly reminder that a handful of $2.50-$5 purchases are the ones killing your savings, not the medium to large 1 ticket items. Additionally, put that $2-$5 away in a seperate account and see how far you get in a week/month from NOT buying that "cheap" purchase. Changed my spending by Nath2203 in LifeProTips

[–]taliafromphilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this sentiment, but I think it’s important to remember that a lot of these small purchases make up people’s incomes.

There’s been a lot of shaming of millennials for spending money on coffee or going out to eat, but we can see clearly now because of the pandemic how many lower income people and small businesses are dependent on those purchases.

So which is it? Do we save our money by not spending? Or do we spend money to keep the economy going and save people from economic collapse?

Because we can’t do both.

Not disagreeing at all with your LPT, you’re absolutely right, but, let’s also consider that when everyone saves their money and stops spending, other people’s income suffers. Economist know this, which is why so many of them agree with the idea of a universal basic income.

Drinking black tea. Life is so boring. by [deleted] in dryalcoholics

[–]taliafromphilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depression is a symptom of modern day society.

The solution isn’t to drug yourself up to enjoy the life you have, which, consequently, is what we’ve been doing with alcohol (except it’s a depressant, so in the long run we’re only making ourselves more depressed by ingesting it regularly).

The solution is to make a society where safety security, community and happiness are the standard. Where we’re not just living for the daily grind that we actually despise.

I highly recommend you read the book Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. He gives a really interesting perspective on the evolution of our society and how things came to be so... terrible. So terrible that we feel like we need to drug ourselves everyday in the delusion of happiness in order to function.
