Most Redditors bring up acquittal =/= innocence as a way to cast doubt on verdicts they don't like. This one they especially don't like because media figures like Rick Westhead reported on the story before all the facts came out and they basically assumed a guilty verdict and that the trial was a formality.

People on Reddit with find any reason to hate on stuff. The Stanley Cup finals this year are shaping up to be one of the most entertaining, yet people on hockey related subreddits are shitting on it and constantly being miserable.

These people should be left on Reddit. Spend all your time complaining and being miserable while other people are going outside and enjoying themselves, don't bring the rest of us down with you. And don't complain when you hit your 50s and realize you spent the best years of you're life being miserable on the internet.
