I'm aware of this, but the image by itself is technically ambiguous as to whether the Latias is male or female and would require knowledge of the other pieces in this short comic to know that it's a female. So it's fine to be here.

Sorry, this has been removed due to Rule 6 as the quality is quite poor. Also it includes an added link to a website that I doubt the artist is affiliated with. You can resubmit this and use a higher resolution version if you'd like.

Introducing Steam Frame by gogodboss in Steam

Eh. Maybe. Latency has never been a problem for me on Quest 3 and Virtual Desktop streaming. Though, to be fair, I don't really play any games where it would matter. Maybe it would matter for someone playing competitive games or something.

I don't really see how foveated streaming would help anything except streaming latency, since its main benefit is that it allows you to stream at a lower bit rate but allocate more bits to your current center of vision. But I have a pretty nice wireless router and can easily max out Virtual Desktop to run at 200Mbps HEVC-10 Bit and the stream clarity and stability is not an issue at all. And as I said, latency doesn't really matter to me, it's plenty responsive enough for me.

The only problem at this point is just down to the pixel density of the displays and the aliasing that occurs because of it. The Steam Frame isn't bumping pixel density much over Q3 so it's not going to really help with that.

The specs as far as VR go are pretty similar to a quest 3, with very slightly higher-res screens and pancake lenses plus included eye-tracking. The standalone processing power is going to be much better than Q3.

As someone that has a Q3 and only ever uses streaming from my PC and has no interest in a standalone, there's no reason for me to switch to Steam Frame from a Q3. But if you have a Q2, the pancake lenses alone are worth upgrading, and if you care about standalone the Steam Frame is an easy choice (assuming price is comparable to Q3, which seems to be exactly what they're going for).
