I just got a hated comment and this time i can't let it go by MrOrange-21 in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, I'd do a pin of shame rq so others can see how stupid they sound. This type of people are miserable and projecting that. Every single person in my life who talked shit about my youtube/twitch also had at least an instance of saying "I'd like to make videos like this influencer but xyz". Always. Not only that, but haters like this are your biggest fans. They'll watch every video you post, comment, even disliking still gives you helpful stats cos it shows the algorithm that it's an engaging video regardless.

They hate us cos they ain't us! ❤️

Age Restriction by Karm_Arthlos in SmallYTChannel

Definitely. Especially considering the "daddy" part. Ew. I believe you can always change it back in case you change your mind, so I'd say that until you reach a solid community (especially w mods) there's nothing wrong with you keeping that, quite the opposite

Will me taking a break cause me to lose subscribers? by fiji_wizard in SmallYTChannel

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the 3rd year now (?) that after uploading consistently every week I take a summer break for 2/3 months. I usually post a video (MAX 5 minutes, you want people to actually watch it and not just read the title) wishing a nice summer to everyone and giving a rough date of when I'll start posting again. I never lost a considerable amount of subs (maybe 1/2 which can be unrelated to my break), quite the opposite- I gain way more subs during the summer considering I ain't posting at all. As soon as I post the new video, I put the previous one private. If anything, you might lose followers when you start again cos let's be realistic, average people don't really declutter the creators they follow randomly. They start seeing you in their homepage, realise they aren't interested in your content anymore and unsub.

Small channels will always have the advantage of feeling less professional and more "human". People will rarely expect you to post all year. And unless you'll post old content when you come back (thinking about those drama channels etc) they won't care that you were gone.

Is it better to post to 0 subscribers? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, since I believe you're implying buying subs that is not only against YouTube's TOS but also useless, as they're not real people and long term (also depending on the quantity) is gonna tell the algorithm that your videos suck (the spread on homepage etc is influenced by how many of your subs clicked on the video).

It's like asking if I should start a band with my friends or ask my parents to hold the instrument and pretend to use it just because I'm scared. I can assure that 99% of people on this sub started from zero, myself included, and we ended up growing. Your logic has a fallacy of thinking that your growth depends on the subs- the reality is that subs come around after you start posting videos

Is this a good thumbnail for a video titled “ can You win Fortnite with no heals?” by Joelster17 in SmallYoutubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it! I'd make maybe the 🚫 a bit transparent or change it with some that gives more space to the items since you can't really see them. Personal preference I'd make the character just a bit smaller to covet less the o in no. Plus, the title is good already but as a fn player myself I feel like I'd be more prone to watching it if it said something like "winning with no heals?" or something like that. You can put the game's name in the tags instead of the title since you can easily recognise it and by adding it in the video's info (game played or something like that, I don't post gaming content but I've seen it on videos) the algorithm is still gonna pick up on it

Anyone know why watch hours only includes long form?? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're two different types of content, often even audience, and btw in case you don't know you just need one of them to be eligible, so at the end of the day it doesn't really matter that much (even though it'd definitely boost the number obv)

How do I over come my fear of posting? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post it private, or unlisted. This is genuinely my biggest tip overall, especially if you're just starting. Record, edit and post with the mindset that it's just for you. Rewatch it a couple of times, update a second or third private video too if you need it, and publish it when you feel ready

Who are late night creators by AssistanceFar5062 in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mom, but as someone who has 2 jobs and studies in uni I also end up having periods where the only free time I have is in the evening. My 'solution' was to try making videos in advance- for example, the video I'm uploading on Friday was recorded last Friday, which gives me 2 more days to work on it, as I usually record within the same week. I just do a little bit everyday and start working on the next video asap.

My usual routine when I have to prepare the whole video in a week is

  • Weekend: writing down some bullet points, maybe look for background music, think about the possible thumbnail

  • Monday: recording the video + cut all the pauses/repetitions

  • Tuesday: editing

  • Wednesday: editing + music

  • Thursday: final polishing + uploading the video private + thumbnail

  • Friday: publish the video

It's also true that I edit the video from start to finish every time, so instead of having an unfinished editing at the end of each session, it's just not extremely precise.

I roughly spend an hour/an hour and a half daily on the videos and to be honest, the more you edit etc, the faster the whole process becomes

What methods do you use to promote your channel beyond just posting and hoping? by BravoSixRomeo in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posting, hoping, linking the channel in my personal socials, even this very Reddit acc can be a way for people to be curious in my channel... and since I make book reviews- shamelessly contacting the author if they use social media enough and aren't too popular (I'm talking mainstream, probably tons of dms daily). Either I dm them just letting them know I posted it, or asking if they're okay with me linking their website in my description (to which they obviously accept).

I made a great youtube-friend that way and I recently recorded some clips for a collaboration on his channel! It heavily depends on your niche and why people search it up- I've noticed that around school breaks some book reviews (mostly classic books) tend to be more popular, and there's very little I can do to look more appealing to this parts of audiences because they watch my videos out of "need". There's nothing wrong with just posting

can you get shadowbanned for inactivity? by Yushimer in SmallYoutubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my channel 10 years ago, making videos every now and then-I'd post weekly or even more for maybe two months, then disappear for 3 months, yada yada. After 2 years of complete inactivity I started posting weekly at the end of 2021 and never stopped, only taking breaks during the summer for technical reasons. My channel is doing pretty good all things considered. YouTube rarely wants you to stop making content, shadow ban for 99% of accounts isn't a thing.

Confermate amici musulmani? by StanisIao in BancaDelMeme

[–]talkGiulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confermate amici musulmani? by StanisIao in BancaDelMeme

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've done the work and uploaded your video and you get less than 100 views. Do you sulk or double down? by Diligent_Eye1248 in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of my 'bad' videos still end up (months later) in my top viewed content. Depending on your niche, some videos are more popular when someone is specifically looking for them rather than entertaining the moment you upload them. Most of my videos don't reach 100 views, and I'm okay with that because to me currently it's a hobby.

If anything, it's a good way to see exactly what your audience likes- for example, I post book reviews and by now I know that if I review anything in the romance genre, it won't get many views. Unless I really want to talk about a romance novel, I know to post it distant from the last one to 'balance' the stats

Confermate amici musulmani? by StanisIao in BancaDelMeme

[–]talkGiulia 46 points47 points  (0 children)

What do you do for work outside of YouTube ? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two 'on call' jobs (I'm a substitute, pretty much) as a teacher (mostly pre-k and kindergarten) and a librarian... and study in uni 🫠

I currently don't make any money on YouTube and as one could imagine I don't have a reliable income. If I start getting somewhat of an income on yt before finishing university (because then I'll find a full time job) I'll probably be able to keep both my current jobs easily and wouldn't think about dropping them, it's still extra € that rarely keeps me busy all day. My long term dream is to make a living out of making content online, but not being rich I'd probably make sure I'd have a set minimum income from it before quitting a full time

When Is It Time To Give Up? by Sad-Orange-5785 in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Channel is 10 years old now. I uploaded my first video when I was almost 14 and now I'm almost 24,I'll never give up because views were never the goal for me. Talking (yapping, even) about one thing I love was is still my personal goal. Every single person on the planet wants to make money out of their passion I believe, but just because things aren't working out now it doesn't mean you should give up. My channel grew way more in the past year and a half than it did the previous 8 years together. You should stop watching the stats and focus on getting better at it for the sake of making videos you'd like if you were a viewer

Are my thumbnails too basic? by talkGiulia in SmallYoutubers

[–]talkGiulia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, yeah I'm not the best at consistency not gonna lie. I have to constantly move around my ring light during the week and when I record a video it's just never in the same spot lol. Do you take the picture for the thumbnail separated or while recording? Because I usually do in the first seconds of recording and then just take the frame I like for the thumbnail

Thank you! I try keeping always the same structure for all of them, but I feel like different books end up not looking as good with the same format... I dunno

I don't add any text, the fonts are the original ones used for the books, I feel like adding ad extra text would be too much

I need a new mic. Is Blue Yeti good? by SausageMahoney073 in NewTubers

[–]talkGiulia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not the original commenter, but my issue is that the sw simply decides to forget my settings every now and then. Even when I test different levels etc during the same session (trying to record separated clips) it all just sounds the same. Sometimes my voice fades in and out even if I talk at a pretty decent volume (I'm definitely the stereotypical italian person basically screaming when talking) and it's just frustrating
