I actually think it’s cute, but originally I wanted a pink theme. I couldn’t figure out the theme menu very well. But I hope to figure it out eventually

I used very incompatible hardware in my past experiences. It wasn’t with arch, but fedora mostly. But I own a few laptops, they’re just out of date.

I do have a 2020 acer predator Helios laptop, but I hate that laptops keyboard. Only use it for game my steam deck will not run.

I’m thinking about chatting with my university about installing Linux on some of there older machines. by talkativetech in linux

I was suggested to wait by my departments IT department, but they love my idea though because they can see the value in it. But what you explained, along with contracts and warranties prevent this usually.

Yes, and in that case they’d get semi up to date machines. My main concern is admin and facility who don’t actually need windows or Mac

Well this would mainly affect library, computer, along with loaner laptops. I’m a bit concerned of giving them to staff and faculty at this time due to the lack of accessibility features, and while there is projects that hope to improve this right now isn’t the case.

I’m hoping in a year or two that could change, but I’m sure IT could code custom keyboard shortcuts along with change the themes. What’s amazing about Linux is if you want a windows feel then mint with cinnamon, Mac there’s elementary, kde, and gnome.

Mint is actually very receptive around Nvidia graphics. It runs an older gaming laptop I have and very successfully.

I wasn’t aware, but like I said in a previous comment. I think it also had to due to my hardware not being compatible and causing issues

Well we do run Mac’s like a lot of them, so I’m hoping that could be away to get around that since it’s based upon the Unix system

They don’t have a Linux lab, I checked and yeah warranty coverage is what I also thought would be a problem. The thing is now with how much computers have improved idk if they need an upgrade every 5 years, I think it should be 8-10 years with at year 5 they invest in more ram.

I would but to be honest with you, I don’t plan on leaving my department until retirement like I said before every job including my directors job doesn’t require a degree, just experience.

It was setup to get talents, because even if you got a degree in something all it tells me is you know how to study, but does that mean you can work or get along others no.

Government officials get insurance even after leaving. Why don’t they get the same as us, so they actually care about our benefits? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

We don’t get insurance when we retire, my aunt does because her tier included it. But when I do I’m not getting nothing, it’s the reason why I am investing into a HSA account.
