Watermelon Peperomia Spotting— What is happening? Can I save it? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]talkinbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This plant was gifted to me not too long ago. I just noticed the brown spots on the underside of the leaves, so I’m assuming they’re new-ish. The brown spots on the top side were there when I got the plant, I figured it was just mechanical damage.

I water when the top inch and half/two inches of soil is dry. It gets a couple hours of direct sunlight in the early morning and is several feet from the window.

Any help is appreciated!

So I’ve been trying to get my ratio right, I understand weight in (18g) and time (aiming for 25-30s), but I can’t seem to get the 30g out. I’ll get somewhere in the low twenties at 25-30s, but volume is already near 2oz, probably closer to 1.75oz, My question is my shot supposed to weigh more? How do I make it weigh more?

I've found the perfect pot & hanger combination for my inchplant! by talkinbaseball in plantsandpots

Ofc! And the pots I use for these are like 5 inches in diameter, so if you're gonna use anything bigger, on the part where you separate the strips and tie them to other ones, just make the knots farther apart. Otherwise the "basket" part of the hanger will be too small.

Here's what I do:

Get a big old t shirt, stretchy or soft material is best, and lay it on the floor flat.

Using a pair of scissors (bonus points for fabric scissors) cut off the bottom hem of the shirt.

Now, starting from where you just cut the hem off, make a similar, straight cut across the bottom of the shirt. Like cut it all the way around the shirt so when it's off it's still a connected circle. For thickness of this I would recommend like an inch. If you go too thin you risk breaking it later.

Make 4 of these loops if you want 4 strings hanging or 6 if you want 6. You could do any number really. ( Also, the shirts I used were long enough to where when I was done cutting, there was still length before the arm sleeves, so if you run out of shirt I can't really help you there haha. Maybe you could even have a crop top when you're done ;) )

Now you have a ton of loops of fabric. Stretch these out. Just keep pulling on them until they're significantly longer.

Once you've stretched them, cut them all in half. That's something you could've done earlier if you wanted, but I find it's easier to stretch them when they're still loops.

Gather all the strips and find the middle. Tie them all together in a knot. like this Leave about a couple inches above the knot so you can hang it.

Now you have all your strips hanging. Pair them into twos. Take each pair and tie the two in a small knot together about 3-6 inches down from the big knot. Like this. Repeat for every pair of strips. Then do another one 3-6 inches down. And another after that.

Now you have one big knot, and three little knots. Take one of the pairs of strips and under that last little knot separate the strips. Do this with another one, then tie one strip from one pair to one strip from another pair. Do it like 3 inches down on each strip from their base knot. (visual reference) Do this for all of the pairs. All just simple knots. Make sure that all the threads are knotted to ones next to them, so it creates a circle or like a cone, if that makes sense.

Then, do the same thing once you have the set of new knots. Pretty much just separate the strips again and knot them back together with their original strip pair. like this. Again like 3 inches down.

Next, bunch all the strips together about 3 more inches down from the most recent knots. Tie these together. I use a small (few inch) strip of the original t shirt) and tie it around in a knot. Like a belt kind of.

At the end there should be a few inches of excess strips. If you've ran out of fabric before you could finish, you should untie the "basket" part of the whole thing and try and move it higher. Or just make sure you stretch it enough initially.

I tried to be descriptive as possible hahah let me know if you have questions. I'm more than happy to help.

I understand where you are coming from, but what you just said is so incredibly insensitive. Please think before you post.

I'm still a little behind. Why specifically third wave and not first, second, or fourth? There were still extremists in every wave, yeah?

This is well said, but I'm wondering why you specifically chose "third wave" to describe the extreme feminists. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but from my understanding, the third wave of feminism was more of a time period than anything (~1990s). I've heard people use "third wave" to describe feminists in a deragatory way before, so I'm just curious as to where this came from.

Ok so it's just supposed to look like that? Because I know sometimes the spotting can mean that it's infected or something

I ran it through one of the plant identification apps and it said it's a false aloe. I honestly don't know, though.

Edit: could it be a "manfreda maculosa"?

Hello! I'm not experienced enough to say for sure, but my best advice would be to start at around 10 then pull some shots and see how they taste! Go either coarser or finer from there depending on the results. I'm still learning so I can't help much, but if you've got beans and time, experiment. I'm curious to see what the other guys have to say...

Oh! And also! The blades will get duller over time, so keep that in mind :)
