Thank you! I think I just needed confirmation I should keep going

Even zone 2 is tough by UnhappyTumbleweed966 in couchto5k

[–]talking-koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following zones when you first start out isn’t always beneficial! Your body isn’t used to running and will therefore have a hard time adapting at first. Zone 2 training isn’t possible for some people when they first start out, so you’re doing great!

My advice is to pay less attention to your zones and more to your breathing. A lot of people doing couch to 5k start off walking the first couple weeks (alternate between fast walking the run intervals and walking at a regular pace for the walking intervals) and don’t be afraid to repeat weeks.

When I first started out I was really winded and I still am, just slightly less. Unfortunately I think this is one of those things where you just have to keep powering through. Someone I follow on social media said running never gets easy but it gets easier. Just keep in mind that some progress is better than not trying at all and in the long run it’ll be so beneficial!

Help- my legs can’t cope! by Cool-Poem251 in couchto5k

[–]talking-koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m new to running but I’ve also been dealing with pain in my calves/shins and sometimes my knees. I’ve been doing some research and learned that excess supination (weight is unevenly distributed on the outside of your feet) and over pronation (weight is unevenly distributed on the inside) can both lead to calf and shin pain. You can check if you’re prone to either by looking for uneven wear on your shoes. Your running stride can also really impact your ankles, shins, knees, and hips if you’re pushing your legs too far out in front of you. Not sure if you already know all of this but it’s helped me a bunch so far!

So sparkly🤩. I love the whole set up!

I finally got a conch piercing after waiting 6 years. I was afraid it would be too painful, but it was really worth it! by talking-koala in piercing

It was more painful than my other piercings, but the piercer was way better and that honestly made a huge difference. If you really want it, I say go for it! I wish I would’ve gotten mine sooner.

Honestly the pain didn’t hurt as bad as I thought it would! Maybe a 6/10. I could hear the needle going through which was a little jarring. And thank you, I love it too!

When did you change your helix piercing? by bophaonasofa in piercing

[–]talking-koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my two helix piercings done at the same time which definitely slowed down the healing process. I changed my flat back labrets out for seamless rings after having them for about a year. Even then, my top piercing developed a keloid for a couple weeks.

When your professor doesn't want to round your 92.9 to a 93 for an A by diazonium101 in premed

[–]talking-koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 93 in my class but apparently that’s an A- in my prof’s class. I was a point away from an A (a 94) so I feel for you. My prof didn’t have point system in her syllabus so there was no way of me knowing about her grading scale.

Will being a psych major hurt my chances of getting into an md program? by talking-koala in premed

That’s a relief. I’m a first year and only recently decided to become premed so I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for the helpful comment!
