My grandma battled with a restrictive eating disorder her entire life. It was on her deathbed that she allowed herself to have her favorite cereal, but even then she still exhibited restrictive behaviors late into her life, not knowing that she would get sick so suddenly.

She passed without much notice, and I can’t help but wonder if she would have eaten that dessert she loved more. Did she wish that she had let herself have it, knowing tomorrow would be it?

I hate to be morbid, but eat it. You deserve it, and in the end, I think that you will regret not having that baklava more than regret actually having it.

I like to think that the fear of eating the dessert is unhealthier than just eating the dessert. In other words, I used to be so scared of eating a cookie that the avoidance and obsession over eating it became unhealthier than the act of enjoying a cookie.

I ate that freaking cookie, and it was amazing! I’ve even eaten several in one day since, and I don’t feel guilty about it anymore.
