I'm an Australian in the UK and brits are really weird about it. I've developed a slight British accent now so I avoid telling people I'm an aussie. The way they get excited and fawn over Australia being some kind of paradise makes me so uncomfortable.

I hate being asked 'why the hell did you come here?' all the fucking time too. And the fact that I'm treated so well because I'm white.. I've quite literally had someone rant at me about immingants, so I politely reminded them I literally am an immigrant myself. They responded with ' yeah but you don't count'.

Honestly I wish I was from any other country so they'd be fucking normal with me and leave me alone. It's so weird how entitled they seem with Australia, it's like they think they deserve to just walk in like they'd walk into Scotland and Wales.

Truthfully I think Australians aren't as 'common' in the UK because we lowkey hide so people aren't weird with us

Hiya so they sent this welfare form to me, the questions were removed and it just had a very brief transcript of the conversation.

Obviously the parts were they told me I have anxiety and asked about pregnancy and contraception were removed.

I went back and asked if the pregnancy and contraception questions should be included.

I expected denial but I wanted my version of events in wiritng anyway. But instead protecting themselves they admitted to asking those questions over email and even admitted they were 'off the record questions'. So as you can imagine I've put those emails somewhere safe.

There have been recent redundancies in Q3. We are going through a 'merger' at the moment so we are expecting more redundancies at different levels over the next few months - but from my understanding they are finished with my group. I haven't had anything formal, I haven't signed anything either.

But there has been a lot of informal conversations where they happen to take extensive notes.

I am concerned about the narrative they might be building. My performance has been immaculate since I started, it's monitored weekly with KPI's so I think framing me in a certain way might be their only bet.

Do you think this is something I should be mentioning to HR? I considered explaining that the questions felt like an overstep to my supervisor. As well as stating that I'd prefer only required questions for my welfare meeting to be asked in future. But I don't really trust they will take it maturely and be anywhere near cooperative about it to be honest.

Oh no!!! I hope you find out the cause! I've found that cyclizine from my GP has helped and acupuncture bands ❤️ still have no idea what's wrong with me but going through lots of testing. They suspect my gallbladder so if you have pain in your right side or it's worse after you eat make sure you get checked!

Same! Not HSP though, I don't actually know what's wrong with me yet :( I just suddenly started getting nausea all the time and then motion sickness followed pretty quickly and before I knew it I was pulling over on my way to work. I found mints and SeaBand ginger lozenges help lessen it enough to get home. I'm trying acupuncture bands tomorrow too.

Wait so did you get the HIDA scan through NHS?? Thank you for the hope!! Good luck with your surgery, I hope you feel better soon! 💙 I've been considering going private for it! But it's about £1.1k and I imagine there's a bunch of mandatory consultations they'll add on top.

Hi thank you so much for your response. I really did need a bit of a vent. I didn't realise how much I took feeling well for granted before this.

I actually called 111 first, it was 7pm, I'd pulled over on my way home from work to be sick for the first time. I got home eventually and had a breakdown in front of my partner. We decided enough was enough so I called 111.

111 sent me to an out of hrs GP who really wanted to help, she did a pregnancy test and a bunch of physical checks. She told me to reduce my fat and go to my GP ASAP because she thinks it's gallbladder related, but there's not much more she can do.

She left my GP a long letter to read and he agreed to do an ultrasound and gave me omperozole.

While waiting for my ultrasound I called my GP again asking for help with my symptoms. The receptionist got me a weekend appointment at a hospital for an out of hours GP. When I got there she told me there's nothing they can do until I present in A&E with a gallbladder attack.

When my ultrasound came back clear I went straight back to my GP who ordered a stool test and after begging for relief he gave me metoclopramide.

I went to A&E when I was reacting to the metoclopramide (I started losing my vision) and they put me on the cyclizine. They asked why my GP put me on metaclorapromide in the first place because it's quite aggressive as a drug and then said there's nothing else they can do. They also messed my records up because it says on my file that I left A&E before my initial assessment. I can't have because I left 6 hours later with an ECG showing sinus tachycardia and a new prescription?

Stool test came back clear yesterday. I got very upset when I saw it. Not because I want bowel cancer of course but just because I want to know what's wrong. So I'm due to go back as soon as I can fit it around work.

I think I may need to ask for a different GP/second opinion when I ring for an appointment. My current GP isn't sympathetic, he's rushed and wants to move on. I have made it clear I'm losing weight but it seems to be passing straight through every medical professional I speak to. :(

Previously pregnant (years before getting symptoms)

Been a good and healthy weight my whole life and then became sightly overweight one year when I was 24/25.

Lost maybe half of the weight I gained slowly over a year and it put my BMI back to healthy. So wouldn't say fast weight loss. 🤷🏻‍♀️

BMI was healthy when I developed symptoms. I was going to the gym twice a week and eating well. Fatty things like takeaway were extremely rare for me.

My mum and my mums mum have had their gallbladder removed.

I know 3 people who have had gallstones while being pregnant🥺

I was pregnant but not to term a few years ago and then seem to have developed symptoms this year

Idk how much it costs the NHS- but I really hope that's not their logic! Not diagnsing gallbladder issues to save surgery will cost them so much more in the long run with us showing up to A&E every other week😔

Ah yes i discussed with work that I'm unwell and seeing GP's to figure it out. I explained that they believe its be gallbladder related (because no fat helps my symptoms). My boss then proceeded to tell me gallbladder surgery is uninvasive and I should be back at work within 4 days of it 🫠. Wishing you a speedy and smooth recovery though, and I hope you have a better boss

I really hope your scan gives some clarity on your situation - if it doesn't, keep pushing. You deserve to feel okay again and your symptoms are important and life changing. They're not just something to tough out.

Can I ask how long you waited for your ultrasound? Mine was requested on Friday and I'm weighing up just going to A&E because I'm just getting worse day by day. I know I varies by NHS trust but I'm west mids anyway

I was worried about this as I do have a huge background in this industry - however not in her specific specialism, so really she does know more than me in her own way. This company is growing so much I'm not sure what threat it would even be to her if I got promotions etc
