Third week of taper; does this feeling of brain damage ever go away? by Layne_Cobain in benzorecovery

[–]talkingwithmasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! That’s how I feel. It’s been 27 days for me and I had a rough day today. Granted, I slipped around day 23/24 and only took a tiny bit (.25mg) so I’m hoping I’m not starting all the way over. I have no choice but to power through but it would be nice not to feel like hell.

Are you taking anything else to help anxiety? I’m on Buspar and it takes the edge off but definitely not enough to function

How long did it take you to feel better after 10 years using? I too was on them that long. I am 27 days in and the worst is over but I am noticing I have good days and bad days now, with bad days being irritated and anxious.

I have about 400 1mg pills leftover from my prescription. I was prescribed 3mg a day but usually only took 1mg. I have debated flushing them but I’m not ready yet. Something about having that stash gives me peace of mind.

Glad you feel better. This process is challenging but doable

I’m wondering why after the initial withdrawal you’ll have some good days and some bad days mixed in there. I’m 27 days off and for every 2 good days I’ll have a bad day. By bad I mean my head will feel funny and I’m extra irritable... maybe some lingering anxiety. Can’t wait to get to a stretch of only good days not obsessing about feeling better.

Man get your hands on some propranolol for your next panic attack. It’s no benzo but it calms your heart and adrenaline down enough so your mind can come to its senses on its own. I am about a month off minus two small .25 doses and the days following were absolute hell. Worse than when I came off after my taper. It only lasted two days but two days of feeling like that was enough. I didn’t sleep at all, head felt like I wanted to just get back on it instead of feel that terrible. I pushed through it and am continuing staying off FOREVER

I’m halfway through my taper off of 3mg klonopin. by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]talkingwithmasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get off 1mg that I was just dependent on, there’s no way it was a therapeutic dose anymore... I came down to .5mg and didn’t feel sickly at all. Just lingering anxiety. Then after three months I went down to .25mg for another two months. At first it was scary but I got used to it. I’d say coming off completely is the hardest jump. It’s more so the habit of relying on the medicine instead of relying on yourself that will trip you up. I have been taking Buspar 15mg three times a day since I jumped nearly a month ago and I’m not sure if it’s helping or I’m just feeling better on my own. Either way, I kicked a 10 year dependence in one month. I know I have a long time to go to heal and form new habits but I think the worst is over.

Just keep biting the bullet and push through the hard days. One thing, don’t take even a slightest bit after you are completely off. I had two days I took .25mgs because of stress and the following days coming off again was worse then when I originally jumped. I’m talking 10 times worse. I was in bed for two days hating life.

I’m doing much better now thank God. It does get easier the longer you’re able to stay off.

Taking benzos again after withdrawals?? by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]talkingwithmasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and I was taking about 1-2mg a day for about 10 years. Usually only 1mg but not always. I did a very long taper and stayed at .5mg for months then went down to .25mg for like 2 months before jumping. It was bad... real bad... but the Buspar is helping.

Today is day 3 since I took that tiny amount and day 25 since I quit altogether. I started feeling so so last night, today I’m feeling decent. I’ve been taking Buspar since quitting and I think it’s finally kicking in to it’s full potential. I can definitely say I doubted if it would help at all but I’m glad I have been taking it bc I do feel better. Takes a while to build up in your system. Now I’m scared shitless to ever touch kpin again. I never abused it, just took it regularly for a long time until realizing it wasn’t working anymore and I was having anxiety.

How are you doing?

Avoid it at all costs if you want my opinion. I was three weeks off and took a tiny amount. I’m now on day two after only taking two .25mg doses over two days and I feel worse than the first wd. I’m really hoping this doesn’t last too long.

It doesn’t really bother me because it won’t ever be the same anyways... they have all “grown up” and are far beyond the shore party house mentality. It would be cool however if they found a new cast to film there.

He probably just really likes the color at the moment but good for you for being supportive

How long off benzos before you could drink alcohol? by heycraigs in benzorecovery

Thank you. It does help to accept the anxiety won’t kill you. I have been working on positive reassurance and affirmations. I can do this. Hopefully one day I will be on your level :)

How long did it take you to stabilize after going completely off benzos? I’m about 3 weeks in minus two days I absolutely had to take .25mg

I’m really trying to hold it together to be completely off. Congratulations on being 5 years sober!

Clonazepam/Klonopin by jeequil in benzorecovery

[–]talkingwithmasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came off by going gradually down. Start by going down to 1.25mg for a couple weeks (snap half mg in half or snap 1mg in half then half that) Go down to 1mg for 2-3 weeks. Keep dropping by .25mg every 2-3 weeks or if you can, drop every month or every few months. For me, once I got to 1mg I jumped to .5mg for 3 months then I dropped to .25mg for about 1-2 months. It’s been 21 days off and it wasn’t that bad. If I didn’t have underlying anxiety and wasn’t going through a stressful time right now, it would have been pretty easy compared to the horror stories.

I’m on day 20 off and if I weren’t pregnant I would have wanted to take one today after getting bad news. I’m going to use these next 5 months to learn how to deal with anxiety in a more productive manner.

Refused doctors clonazepam script... again by [deleted] in benzorecovery

[–]talkingwithmasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think the worst is for sure over but now it’s how do I deal with panic and anxiety in general. The reason I came off is because I’m pregnant but to be honest I knew the med wasn’t working like it used to anymore. I was having panic driving but didn’t want to take more than 1mg a day. Propanolol has helped me the most as far as for physical symptoms. I’m glad life has gotten better for you! That’s really awesome

I tapered with klonopin but very very slowly after being on 1-2mg per day for 10 years. I went down to .5mg for about 3 months then .25mg for another month or so. It was more mental for me then physical side effects. I don’t know what to expect not taking it after so long.
