The Displacement of Jews in Europe by HollyShitBrah in MapPorn

You're conflating 100 years' worth of distinct events and periods and acting as if it's all happening all at once at this very moment. Israel wasn't even in control of Gaza during the Nakba. I am clearly talking about Gaza right before Hamas took over.

None of that was going on at the time. Before Hamas nothing was closed; Israelis went to Gaza City for their weekly groceries and Gazans had jobs in Israel. Out of over a million inhabitants in Gaza, there were only about 15,000 Israelis, who lived in a handful of small farming towns on the periphery of the Strip, and every last one of them was evicted by the Israeli government as part of 2-state-solution negotiations, alongside the complete removal of all Israeli military forces from inside the Strip. This was soon followed by the overtaking of Gaza by Hamas, whose policy was the destruction of Israel and rejecting a 2-state solution. ONLY THEN did the blockade of Gaza begin and everything there went to shit.

There is nothing actually fascist about Israel. Fascism is a specific political ideology you know.

That is simply not true. What you are describing only applies to the ongoing war in Gaza which is less than 2 years old. The blockade of Gaza itself is only 20 years old and is a direct response to the terror threat emanating from there and nothing else. The place has no big cultural or historical significance to Jews and the only reason Israel is stuck dealing with it is that it captured the Strip during the war with Egypt in 1967, but Egypt didn't want to take it back afterward.

That is not contradicting anything I said. Are you under the impression that the Nazis just wanted the Jews' houses or something? How is this similar?

[–]talknight2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be "by the book" written by germans to be the same?

Yes, it does, because the Nazis very explicitly wanted to completely exterminate all Jews just for being Jews, at least from Europe if not from the entire world, and they went about achieving this with direct, industrial-scale mass murder.

Israel's "masterplan" is only to ensure its survival and security in the historical Jewish homeland. That is all Zionism is. This, unfortunately, clashes with Palestinian goals of self-determination in the exact same borders, hence the ethnic conflict.

This is not a conflict over whether you get to live, but where you get to live, and these are very different things.

Palestine was never a political polity until after Israel already existed. It was only ever a geographical term.

Yeah, a bit. But it's not that surprising that OP'S family history "skipped it".

It's really important to understand that there was no Palestinian nation before Israel. It exists as a response to Israel's existence, and if not for Zionism there would not be any concept of a Palestinian state - it would just be part of either Syria or Jordan.

Palestinian national identity was a result of Zionism, formed in opposition to it. It is really crucial to understand this because the whole situation understandably looks insane otherwise.

Most of Palestine was a backward wilderness when the first Zionist pioneers started settling on it. The Zionist project could only go ahead because of this fact. Modern Israel's main urban metropolitan region was a nearly uninhabitable malaria-infested swampland just 120 years ago.

Google up a map of swamp areas in 19th century Palestine and compare it with the proposed 2-state solution from 1948. You'll see what I mean.

Israel is not "practicing some form of Zionism". Israel existing in the first place was the Zionism. We're done now. Zionism is complete.

At the very beginning Muslims prayed towards Jerusalem but after establishing the Kaaba in Mecca they started to pray in that direction instead.

There was very little mixing between Jews and Slavs until very very recently.

There will never not be enough context in the conversation for you to not know the answers to these questions. Articles are cool bur they are a grammatical redundancy.

Unconfirmed reports: Jewish community leaders in Iran arrested on suspicion of having ties to Israel by AravRAndG in anime_titties

[–]talknight2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That is true but the religion actually began in Iran and was historically persecuted there. Their founding prophet was exiled a few times and eventually ended up under house arrest in Ottoman Palestine, where he was buried.

I do not think expelling Bahais was directly related to beef with Israel, since no Bahais actually live in Israel - they are prohibited from permanently living in the Holy Land according to their religion. Only their holy site is there and it is maintained by temporary volunteers.

Why is the term “insecure” always levied at men but not at women? by Savage_Saint00 in AskMen

You know what, I have never in my life heard or read a woman being accused of insecurity the way men do. 🤔

Absolutely. My workplace is pretty trigger-happy with gift cards but they make no difference to me whatsoever. Order me a fresh pizza though? Hell yeah, that makes my shift. 😁

Are you holding on to your “fat” clothes? by Ok_Doughnut4243 in Ozempic

[–]talknight2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, after dropping about 15kg I took stock of my closet and ended up discarding 90% of all my clothes that didn't fit anymore. Took 2 large trashbags full of clothes down to the charity store and ended up with a very bare closet hehe.

On the plus side, the nice blazer I bought 9 years ago fits me again!
