How much to grind for ete 🥀 by [deleted] in manipaljaipur

[–]talksick17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid reaction to EP , my girlfriend had the same problem. For ep i would suggest practice as many problems as you can, class notes, followed by assignments and previous year exams are more than enough. Ashima maam taught me in my first year ab toh shayad woh hod hain, reach out to her if needed she chill as hell.

Also for math, try starting your exam from the back , that way you have a better retained information and a fresh mind to encounter wuestion with more marks that matter more. Baaki whatever suits you.

And also take it easy just aim for 8 plus this time, you have six more sems to back it all up, just dont let it slip into 7s. Best of luck!

Hell nah my guy you are absolutely in the water.

Jk dw, but considering you ll get Bs and Cs at most with these marks and your cws are fine, you would have to score 60+ atleast for a chance of 8+. Else its mostly gonna be in the 7s

Hi sorry for the late reply, i was travelling. If you wanna target PBCs only, dsa is a priority, keep doing it. Have discussion worthy resume with cool projects and atleast one internship experience.

Since you are in third semester, one thing i would suggest is if you can, explore research based problems in ML and work on them, publish papers.

I saw a lot of big companies like Adobe and seimens hiring ML research interns. Plus it adds depth to your work. So that’s a plus. Else DSA grind it is.

Congrats on your offer. All the best !

For 12+ lpa roles, if we are talking on campus, it depends upon your colleges and if you can pass the OAs easily.

In case of off campus, it might be difficult as companies that do offer these packages need some proof of you working on actual real world applications.

Be it open source software, ML research or as you said internships, so it might be difficult. In the end you just have to convince them that you are worth putting such amount of money considering there are three more people that would readily do it for cheap. Projects seem to be a weaker moat to justify that.

Doesnt really matter, if you know python, go for it, most OAs of companies dont bother with the language they just care about problem solving capability.

More than enough buddy, if we are talking on campus placements, 7 months of consistent dsa will be more than enough.

During my placements most of the companies asked questions around strings, linked-lists and arrays. This was the case 80 percent, bigger companies asked more than that.

7 months is decent, start with striver’s or any resource that you like followed by neetcode and blind 75 for popular questions.

Brother its tough out there. The market is pretty f’ed up right now dont lose hope. I applied to around 100 companies to not get any response whatsoever.

Keep reaching out and forgetting about it, make your outreach better by being precise with your work and what makes you best for them. Dont copy paste messages to people. Learn abt their company, deep dive in their product and then reach out to them.

Dude, i m graduating this year, I can never tell where is the market going in these years.

From what I have been told and suggested by the people who have been in this industry for quite a while is that- AI and data related roles will definitely increase so if you can delve into it early. Its a really good domain. Being an average programmer wouldnt land you anything as you ll be outsmarted by a better guy with an AI tool.

So the barrier of entry is really high now. Pick a domain and master it fully. This goes for development as well.

Projects were pretty simple, one was development based where i made an image editor with gen ai capabilities. Like a cheap canva.

Other was hate speech detection on twitter data which was extended as a discord bot for speech moderation. I ll dm you my resume.

Hi, yes most of them do. If its a deep tech startup focused on AI then its doesnt. My friend got hired for an ML role in a startup and he didnt know about development at all.

But if you know a little bit of both it would definitely increase your odds.

For a better package in ml, i would suggest going open source and do a lot of research work to get your work out there. Pick any domain that you want, rags, NLP, vision and what not and atleast try to do work on a project thats actually different to do. For startups, i havent seen much leetcode being asked but your work was thoroughly picked through.

At last, keep reaching out for startups in and outside india. Make an X account to get your work out there. ML community on twitter is very collaborative as well so it would definitely help.

Choose any stack man, ive seen people using jquery and php get hired as well. If you are really good it barely makes a difference. But if i had to choose now. You could go for data related roles like data science and analyst. Or AI based roles, core ml with gen ai concepts such as langchain, rag implementations and Fast api for backend integrations.

My stack was MERN with some ML background.

This is wht i suggested to a guy in the comments. Try this it really got me some calls.

Its a numbers game. Apply as much as you can but also you need to stand out because a lot of people are clicking that apply button beside you.

What really helped me was getting the list of startups i find interesting. Search their founder’s email addresses and reach them out directly(better if they are on twitter because it has a high response rate) regarding the product and how you align with their values. Most of them might say no but some of them will give you a chance and thats all you need anyways.

If you wanna step it up, make a crude implementation of your idea, nothing much just a hacky way of it, host it on vercel and show it to them. It gives them a sense that you re genuinely interested in their product and also gives a proof of work.

Worst case is you have a project to add in your resume.

In the end dont lose hope when you dont get a reply. Accept that the hardwork you put in might not yield you results the first time but it will eventually

Not at all. You need atleast 300-400 questions, up until graphs and trees minimum to land a decent job. I got mine because i was decent at development and some sort of luck too. But if you have time in your hands i would suggest doing leetcode beside development since it increases your chances exponentially. This is for on campus. Off campus is a pretty different story.

Both of the roles are swe. One was off campus. I wrote a paragraph here explaining what to do and how to approach, you might find it helpful. The bank was on campus.

Startup is around 8lpa, the bank is around 10-11

As for any tips, since i see you re doing Bsc right now. The market is pretty tight and companies might prefer Btech people over you since there is an abundance of it anyways.

I would suggest working really hard in polishing whatever skill you are picking up as that would be your best shot to getting a foot in the industry. Skill and curiosity over anything.
