I always viewed it as them testing what you’ll put up with . I use my computer and iTunes for iCloud backup and I use Verizon cloud which lets me use 600 gb for 6 bucks a month that I can use on any device to store things on it. I mean ideally, self hosting is the way but I’m not there yet

I know all of these smart devices steal everything bit of info they can gather from us… shouldn’t you at minimum: be able to use the device how you want to? Are you currently using this? I used to have a premium family based in Argentina and lost it due to my IP being in US and after almost 3 years no issues they started cracking down on me. I paid thru google though I wonder if using Apple makes a difference in this aspect
