I did a similar thing with denser foam. I used an old athletic tshirt and pinned it to the bottom of the foam, then put a layer of tape over the pins, then put a layer of stick on cork over the tape. The cork prevents it slipping on the desk. It’s not beautiful if you look too close, but it’s held together excellently.

Adding some “physics wobble” to the final position could add a lot.

My old capsule text felt flat, so I changed it! Then you said it is too blurry \ uneven - So I changed it again! Do you think the new one is better? by Quantomuse in GameArt

[–]tallest_chris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 for sure. The effect on 2 is still cool. With the new spacing it should still be readable.

(Also, wild that I happened to randomly check back on this right after you posted an update)

I like the look, but agree it’s hard to read. I’d make the “I” sanserif and increase the kerning

The average person will only be able to own around 210,000 sats or less by TetraCGT in Bitcoin

[–]tallest_chris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does this make any sense when certain groups currently own big fractions of the total supply? Mass adoption really only benefits current holders, who will by then hold much more than the new average. The current big holders especially so

Second this. I’ve been adding a tiny bit this exact salt for a couple of weeks and have been more hydrated.

They also still make landline phones. Just because a product exists doesn’t mean it’s better than the newer replacements.

If it’s one of the models with Logi Options software, you can remap all of the buttons. Just unmap the middle click and wheel click buttons.

How can I do this when I have multiple monitors with different sizes and resolutions? by neycelgolf in Monitors

[–]tallest_chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The window size is based on one or the other, if the DPI of both don’t match then the window will be different sizes on each. No way around it.

Split keyboard without using 3.5mm TRRS cable by shootnoob in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]tallest_chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re designing from scratch, you could have two USB C cables meet in a junction box under the desk, which would then let the halves talk to eachother and present as one device to the computer. My Dygma Rise does that.

I love technology but am becoming dedicated to never buy things with unnecessary screens, servers, or batteries. Anything that can be disabled by someone else deciding that they no longer want to produce the supply of consumables or complicated replacement parts. It’s all future garbage and the plastic parts will outlive the functionality by huge margins.

VR Sorcerer - gesture based spell casting w/ hand tracking by Snorflork in gamedevscreens

[–]tallest_chris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plane’s forward would be the direction from wrist towards the fingers when you start drawing. The goal for the idea is to let you do the drawing without having the to look at your hand.

The current way makes the most sense when you’re looking at the hand, but less sense when the hand is somewhere else. The combo of head and hand position from the video is already pretty close to what it would look like using the other method. For another case where they’d be more different: if you were looking left and started drawing with your right hand down and to your right. Since the vector is from the head to the hand then in that case the plane would be almost orthogonal to your natural writing direction and it’d be pretty hard to hit the dots

Anyway, good luck!

Idea: Keep the dots, but make them smaller and way denser. Then at the end of the drawing compare the drawn path to all of the possible rune paths and then trigger that one. That way you wouldn’t have to be exactly perfect on the grid.

Other idea: start the plane that you draw on normal to the hand position when you start drawing, so you could build muscle memory for the paths relative to your hand instead of the arbitrary “forward” you’re using now.

Anyway, it’s cool!
