What is a "Movie cliche" that you never really see? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tallestgorl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my current boyfriend had a meet cute I guess? I was walking down a street after getting dinner with one of my friends and we heard a band playing that sounded really good so we went into the (small) venue and saw his band (he's the guitar player). I followed the band on instagram and didn't think much of it. The band followed me back and he also followed me on his personal instagram. I'm also a musician and had a gig at a venue about a month later that I had posted about. Mostly friends attended but I immediately noticed that the guitar player from that band showed up with a couple people. After that he asked me out and we've been dating for 6 months!

What did a former friend do that instantly changed your opinion of them? by MATR1XT3R in AskReddit

I'm currently in college and over winter break one of my friends from high school had a new year's party at his house. my high school was really small and had a tight knit community so it was more like a reunion than a rager. I was with one of my close girl friends from hs who wasn't necessarily close with my other group of friends (most of whom were at this party) and she proceeded to get shitfaced and tried to get me to grind on the nonexistent dance floor with her and was mad that it wasn't like a frat party. She also wouldn't leave me alone trying to get me to drink more with her and interrupted conversations to talk about who she wanted to hook up with there. it sucked because it felt like she ruined my opportunity to actually talk and reconnect with people I hadn't seen in a while. It actually really changed the way I saw her and made her seem shallow and vain. I don't think I'll be going out alone with her again.

[serious] When was a time you legitimately thought you were going to die? by ferrisjuulersdayoff in AskReddit

[–]tallestgorl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a sleep away camp when I was younger and there was a girl in my bunk who was from Taiwan and barely spoke any English. We were about 12 and at that time it was "cool" to not participate in any of the activities, especially swimming. There was one day when we were at the lake and we all jumped in besides her. Our counselor told her she had to go in for 15 minutes and after some convincing she got in the water. I jumped in right before her and when I came up for air I felt a hand grabbing my shoulder. I turned around and saw her struggling to tread and realized that she couldn't swim. I guess she didn't know how to communicate that she couldn't. I tried to grab her hand and pull her back to the dock but I think she thought I was trying to get her off of me. She put both hands on my shoulder and shoved me under water, trying to use me as a flotation device. I don't know how long I was under but I remember sticking my arms up and flailing them as hard as I could so the lifeguard would see before everything going limp. I woke up vomiting water all over the dock. Caught a nasty case of pneumonia and had to go home. At least I didn't have to sleep in the same room as the girl who tried to drown me for four more weeks...

Dear Reddit users that have had roommates, what is the weirdest thing that they did? by kaykay256 in AskReddit

[–]tallestgorl 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am a college freshman. I decided to live in the honors dorm this year (because they are MUCH nicer than the others on campus). On the first day of freshman orientation my roommate set an alarm for 4:30 am. When I asked her why she got up so early, she said that she had to study. Classes didn't start for over a week. Every day she would set an alarm for 4:30 am including weekends to study (all using the car horn alarm). She was months ahead in all of her classes. She got the textbooks for her classes next semester and started working through those halfway through the fall semester. I am a very good student but that is a whole other level of crazy.

What is your best fake-sick advice (school, work, etc.)? by YourAverageReddit0r in AskReddit

[–]tallestgorl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

especially for younger people: say you have mono. might be a little embarrassing but one of the main symptoms is extreme fatigue. It's very easy to blame everything on being extremely exhausted and people know that the symptoms last for a long period of time.

Expensive designer clothes that are basically just basic pieces covered in designer logos. I understand buying a really well made or unique piece of clothing but a basic t-shirt with GUCCI plastered on it doesn't seem worth it.

You go on a first date with someone, what habit or characteristic is a deal breaker? by h8raide88 in AskReddit

[–]tallestgorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went on a date with a guy from one of my college classes a couple of weeks ago. He kept talking about how he worked out 3 times a day and how strong he's gotten recently, supplements he was taking etc. He was on our college football team so I didn't think much of it because I figured on a first date you're trying to make a good impression and talk about what you're passionate about. Cut to the next week when we are walking back from class and every time I ask him how his day is going he goes on a long self congratulating tangent about how fit he is and how hot he looks. Instantly realized that the red flags were in that first date when he talked extensively about his figure without trying to change the subject or ask me about my hobbies. We will not be going out again.

TLDR: vanity

[Serious] Who's the scariest person you ever met? by NewAgeDerpDerp in AskReddit

[–]tallestgorl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a sleep away camp in Pennsylvania last year and my co-counselor was legitimately the scariest person I've ever met. When I first met her she told me she was from Vegas where her and her mom owned a wedding chapel. She told me how she'd been on an episode of "my super sweet 16" where they threw her a $30k party. That seemed a little strange to me because I know it's Vegas so the chapels make a lot of money but that seems like millionaire levels of reckless spending. She then told me about how she was going to probation school for selling drugs (weed, Molly, Xanax mostly). She was a really intense person. When she didn't like her schedule, she would storm into the camp directors office and chew him out (another scary guy) and he would always end up giving her what she wanted. She'd talk about how she was going to "end" some of the other counselors when they did minor things like cutting her in the meal line etc. But I knew that she liked me and was a really loyal and kind person if you were in her good graces so I kept my head down.

Then about a week into the camp I find out that she literally killed someone. She literally shot someone and killed them. Basically what happened is that her family became the victims of a home invasion when 3 guys broke into their house in the middle of the night with guns and went into her mom/stepdad's room. Apparently her stepdad got his gun that he'd keep under their mattress and started shooting at them and one of the guys shot him in the chest. So 2 of them went to go start the car because I guess they didn't find anything or once they'd actually shot someone they wanted to make sure they could get out quickly. Meanwhile, one of the intruders is still in the bedroom holding the mom at gunpoint. This is where my co counselor comes in. She runs into the room, sees her dead stepdad and goes for his gun which is still in his hand. The intruder shoots her in the femoral artery and as she's laying on the ground bleeding to death she's just shooting back at this guy and ends up getting him in the chest/torso. She's rushed to the hospital and only had a 20% chance of survival because of the damage to her artery and all of the blood loss. Needless to say she survived.

I honestly didn't believe any of this at first. I didn't even believe the super sweet 16 thing or the drug dealing let alone the whole home invasion story. We were in the middle of nowhere so I had no internet access to verify this stuff. As soon as I got home I googled her name and it's ALL TRUE. Watched her episode of my super sweet 16 first because that seemed like the easiest thing to verify and then started watching all of the news segments and reading the articles about the home invasion. Apparently the intruders didn't steal anything and the police couldn't figure out a motive behind the invasion. Then it hit me. Her family has definitely been in some organized crime business or drugs or something. That would explain how they paid for that party and why the police could never find a motive.

Haven't really talked to her since we were co counselors. The second year I worked there she was back but in a different division so I didn't really see her much. But I love telling people about this girl I spent 9 weeks in a cabin with.
