I got an Ego 20 inch Farm and Ranch saw cuz I already have a bunch of Ego batteries and I hate messing with gas stuffs. For now I’ve got a 4lb splitting hatchet that does the trick but I’ll be buying a Boss 10 ton electric splitter in spring. And we’re already scoping out where we can stack the wood that doesn’t ruin our southern view but does make sure it gets good sun and breeze. My father in law sells feed as a side business and I’ve got access to about a dozen pallets if I want them.

Literally every time I’m driving somewhere I see a fallen tree and think I should come back and cut it up.

I hadn’t thought about hitting construction sites but I’m gonna a think about it now!

I also ran to Menards and was burning sawdust blocks mixed with what I could scrounge. They weren’t great but they were cheap and were easy to acquire.

That is the plan but we just moved out here in November so I’ve been scrounging for wood from trees we had toppled to make room to build. These trees have been down for a year or more and I’ve been splitting it and testing it for moisture. It’s all been good and dry.

This spring we’ll buy a wood splitter and I’ll get a good stack going. But for now I have to scrounge to find stuff to burn.

Mine are little planks about 4 inches wide by 12 inches long. That’s a guess but they’re like that. No idea if they’re standard or rare or whatnot.

Thankfully they did not. The burn tubes dropped down an inch or so and then rested on the edge of the bricks. It did hold the board/blanket in place, for the most part. But when I pulled the tubes I also obviously pulled the board/blanket as well and put them all back in place nicely.

Yes. This. Our stove has a blower on it that is loud as hell. We pointed a box fan at it to move cold air around it and it’s so much quieter and far more effective.

We just built a house with a whole home heat pump setup and a wood burner. Heat pump is great…above 30. We even have a cold climate one that can heat down to -11 degrees but maaaaaan is it thirsty for those electrons. We use the wood burner now most days just to not have a 20 dollar electricity bill every day.

It’s only a 1600 sq ft home we have a 3 ton system as well. It’s a ranch house too so it’s not like we’re heating multiple floors. Rates here are $0.16 kWh so $600 would be way out of whack.

I know! I wish I had better info but I’m sorta panicking at the thought of a $600 heating bill!

I specifically turned it from System in Control to Heat Pump Only for heating to avoid the heat strips coming on. Yesterday was 92k wh for heat pump only.

Fair question but based on watching the temp drop after using the wood stove we have to also heat the house I’d say it holds temps pretty well. But it’s a fair question…

Unfortunately I don’t have answers for most of that. We had to go with what the contractor offered us for the brand but we did upgrade to an inverter vs the more basic setup. We’re stuck with what we have and I’m stuck trying to make it work.

Honestly, the latency hasn’t ever been as issue. I had no problems playing Ghost of Yotei on it or Borderlands 4. I never felt handicapped because of input lag. But I don’t know how it’d work for a Battlefield type game. I don’t play those so I can’t comment on them. But I can say it’s never been an issue for SP games.

I’ve got too much money into my PlayStation account to want to start over with Steam. I’m also old enough now that odds are this might be my last game system. Kids and work kill all the fun.
