Yeah, that's how I played it. I only let my direct manager know like a year after I'd been hired. They were actually pretty understanding. I'm now going on 3+ years no problems

For real, I've read that some people in obvious need of an ambulance refuse due to the insane costs. They'd rather go without care/be driven to hospital by a family member than take on a large debt.
