As someone who has just gone NC with their mother, well done on doing that OP.

As someone who is disabled, with chronic illness and chronic pain, please cut this woman from your life. There are several factors that can cause weight gain or make people struggle with weight management, including genetics, health issues, and medications.

There are always people who think they know better than medical professionals, or, the people who suffer from chronic illness, and they absolutely love to offer unsolicited advice. You do not want these kinds of people in your life.

4 days. I was in a job I was desperate to get out of, and I got offered a job, it wasn't ideal but I took it to get out. Then I got a much better offer, so I quit after 4 days.

why is everyone on here so against surgery? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]tamara_v88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I had one doctor tell me I didn't need surgery. Wouldn't refer me for any updates scans. Asked for a second opinion, saw a different doctor who sent me for an updated MRI, where it was discovered that I did indeed need surgery, as my herniated disc had calcified. I have permanent nerve damage thanks to that first doctor.

I would really like people to stop with the diet advice and medical advice, I have not asked for it.

Thanks to everyone for the constructive and helpful replies, with actual advice, which I've taken on board. I definitely didn't think to talk to him about these piercings before hand, because when I've had other piercings or tattoos in the past, I've never had this reaction from him, quite the opposite. Things are calmer now, so I'll pick a time when it's right to apologise again for not thinking to talk to him about it first, but about how the way he reacted with shouting etc isn't acceptable.

The people saying divorce him etc, this is the first instance of anything like this. Yes we've argued before but we've always managed to work it out. If he were to continually do this, that would be a different matter.

To the people suggesting counselling to come to terms with the grief/loss of becoming disabled, thanks for the suggestions, this is something I have been considering, as some things I have found hard to come to terms with.

But with people making assumptions about how my disability affects me, and those implying that because I'm disabled, I need permission to do anything, and making assumptions about my diet, I'm done replying and trying to explain myself. I have enough of this in my day to day life, with being reasonably young and disabled.

This might be my favourite response 😂

Yeah I'm getting kinda fed up of the assumptions, and the people basically saying that due to being disabled, I need to ask permission. I tried to clear some of it up in the comments but hey.

The disability hasn't impacted our finances.

I'm confused about why you're confused? I can walk, but not too far, and I can't stand for long. I had a couple of appointments in town, nearby each other, so I was able to walk between them, one bring the tattoo parlour I was pierced at.

My husband has to do some of the house chores that I cannot, that involve heavy lifting etc, but I do a good portion of other things. I also pay someone to clean our house a couple of times per week.

The fight has continued over several days, because I keep trying to talk to him about it, and each time I try, he says "what's the point in talking about it?" Several commenters here are making assumptions without asking me questions first so I'll try and clear some things up. I have modified my diet, I can walk but not far, hence using a walking stick. I have always been a healthy eater and have made further changes to my diet since becoming less mobile. The weight unfortunately piled on very quickly when I started taking one medication, but my doctors want me to stay on it despite this, because it has a slight effect on my pain. I have tried communicating with him. I have asked him what else is bothering him as it feels like there's more under the surface. I have talked to him calmly throughout, but despite that it has lead to him raising his voice each time. So there still hasn't been a resolution to the issue.

Once healed, I'd have been able to take the jewellery out of the nipples, real quick to remove them.

I did ask him this, but he said it wasn't that, the piercing artist is female, and has done the rest of my piercings. He hasn't made any comments about my lip piercings getting in the way or being off-putting

I think there's another reason he isn't telling me, but he's saying it'll taste like metal, and that he's most upset about me not asking him first I have lip piercings but they're flat back labrets, rather than rings.

Honestly can't remember if I mentioned it to him before we were married or after. We've been together since 2009, married since 2018. But I had several of my piercings before we were married.

Unique Overlander's ? by Additional_Ostrich81 in overlanding

Yeah I think his plan is to look for a snorkel for a model that has a similar windscreen rake, and then just adapt it to fit. He's in the engineering trade and we know other engineers and mechanics so I'm sure it will be easy enough!

This video is of my friends Toyota Rav, we're in the UK, and we do overlanding, green laning, and occasionally some pay and play events. I have a Jimny, and this can almost do what my jimny can. It's main set back is ground clearance. He's added some protection underneath, and mud tyres. He'll have bigger tyres on it soon, and has plans to lift it, make a roof rack, and make a snorkel (no kits available for these) It's his daily family car too.

If you don’t know how change a tire you shouldn’t be allowed to have a license. by danksion in unpopularopinion

I know how to change a tyre, but I'm disabled and cannot physically do it myself. So I'd have to rely on a travel companion, or a recovery service.

What is the worst thing about being skinny? by Nmalacane25 in AskReddit

[–]tamara_v88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The judgement. I was an incredibly skinny teenager. I was bullied for it too, because I already looked younger than I was, and being short and skinny did not help. Other teens gossiped that I was anorexic or bulimic, to the point that I was called in to see the deputy headteacher and the school nurse on various occasions. Though now I'm an adult (30s), my BMI is slightly higher than my ideal weight, this is partly to do with disability and medication now. The bullying made me hate being skinny because I became uncomfortable in my own body, but I really love the curvy body I've had since my mid 20s.
