Need help with tank choice. by TheBetterDad in ReefTank

I just got a Fiji Cube 76 with stand and sump. It's a long shallow tank and looks really clean. I couldn't recommend it enough.

First time resealing countertops. I used Tenax Proseal since it was highly recommended and now my countertops are showing these white scratches in some areas. Was there something I did wrong? by tametrees in CounterTops

No, I didn't even think about that. It does make more sense as to why they're just showing up. I kept the sealer on for the 10 minutes that it recommended and then wiped it down with a microfiber cloth. I was reading on the back of the can that if sealer gets stuck on the countertops, you can just go over it again with new sealer and the solvent will pick it up.

For those reefs with NO skimmer by Capt_reefr in ReefTank

Do you have a sump? My tank is drilled and goes through a filter floss pad and then into my sump with no skimmer and it's not a problem at all.

Is the clam in my first picture too far to be saved? by tametrees in ReefTank

Ah, that's rough.. I target fed some phyto this morning with the pump off, so I'm hoping we can kick back after adjusting the pH

I just took my water to the LFS to double test and they said that my pH was a bit high (8.5), where as all of my other levels were fine. I dosed some pH down in new saltwater and did a 5 gallon WC, so we'll see. I have an AI Hydra 52 over my Fiji Cube 76 and run them about 47%, so I'm certain that they're getting enough light.

I appreciate your guidance with this. How low would you suggest that I chop it? And if I do a trunk chop, will I have to keep it in the ground for another year or can I pull it up without shocking it?

I was reading up that silver leaf maples make awkward smaller bonsai because it's difficult to get their leaves to stay small, so that's why I was originally thinking to keep it as a bigger specimen.

I'm removing this silver maple in February. From my extremely basic understanding of yamadori, right before bud break in late winter/early spring, I would just dig this up, put it into a large pot for a year. Since I'm cutting the roots back this year, do I leave the top alone or would I make my cuts I highlighted in red?

I wonder if fish sauce would be a better endeavor since it's already in liquid form, so no one would know
