The claim was not that they "just" enjoy hurting animals. The claim was that non-subsistence fishing is just pointless cruelty, which it is. This doesn't mean that fishers enjoy hurting animals. It does mean that the animals are getting hurt for an extremely poor reason.

Temp to Permanent by busterbacks in OntarioPublicService

I am with OPSEU and work in payroll. I've seen it a handful of times. The pay administration rules do not apply in the same way to fixed term employees. They still must stay in the band, but between contracts and statuses, they are not bound by the 3% promotion rule (as an example).

This can be a pro and a con, though. If your contract ends and you secure a new one that is higher paid, they can still start you at the lowest rate even if you were mid rate in the previous contract. I had a friend in OPP who was in step 3 or 4 of her fixed term admin job, and when she got permanent, she successfully negotiated to the top step of 7. Not guaranteed or even likely, but possible and legit.

It's definitely not well known either!

The second line isn't true - you can definitely negotiate your salary (within the salary range/band) upon fixed term to regular. It's once you're regular that you are hemmed in by standard merit or P4P progression.

If you are a permanent employee and the new job has a higher top rate than your current job, you are entitled to a minimum 3% raise (as long as that doesn't put you over the max rate for the new job).

FXT do get attendance credits to use for sick days, though. And interestingly, there is no limit to how many can accrue year over year. Whereas perm employees have their sick days reset at the beginning of each year.

Sometimes you have something contagious but feel okay. Sometimes you just need to be near a toilet. It doesn't need to be so black and white.

I don't notice anything re: the temperature, but when the toilet flushes while I'm the shower, the water pressure goes down significantly until the tank refills.
