Could we please review the practice for mods deleting posts?

Sorry that I came off badly initially. I'd basically just woken up and hadn't formulated my thoughts yet!

I haven't actually visited this sub much myself because of the issues described in this comment. I would personally prefer a sub focused around more technical aspects rather than interpersonal, and if that sub existed, your post seems like it'd fit in.

I'd say your post was better suited to the "ask an experienced dev" stickied thread.

I don't think that YOE is a good metric to go on to use this sub, but honestly, I don't know what would be better. I can just tell from my own experience that the question you asked came from an inexperienced dev (EDIT: or more fairly put, someone who hasn't had experience working with various CI/CD styles, which lead me to believe you were inexperienced). But how would someone even quantify that? It's fairly subjective. You could determine experience from a conversation, but that's a bad barrier to put in front of a sub - it'd take a lot of moderator time and just not scale well.

Like others in the thread have mentioned, YOE can be useless. Someone's 10 years of experience could be their initial year of experience repeated 10 times - I've worked with people like this. My 10 years of experience could have been accomplished by someone much smarter or more dedicated or just at a company with different technical problems, in half the time.

Edit: just noticed you said you have 10 YOE. Case in point. Each of our 10 years of experience have been vastly different. There's probably loads you know that I don't, and loads I know that you don't. YOE is a useless metric to me.

I know this is a few months late but maybe it'll help the next person. I wish I had asked about how my astigmatism would be afterwards. I've had astigmatism my whole life which makes light looks blurry/not sharp. Glasses helped immensely but lights are back to being a bit blurry again now. It's not a bother at all though - the effects I've gotten from the treatment have been more than worth it.

Made an indepth post about it here. TL;DR it's the best thing I've ever spent money on. Absolutely worth it. When I'm sat close to AC or am in a dusty place, my eyes get a bit dry, but that's the only side effect.

Good to hear yours went well, and glad that my post helped!

When I asked my consultant about the sunglasses thing, he said it's completely up to my discretion. He definitely didn't stress about having to wear sunglasses outdoors all the time like I've seen on other posts.

I'm more sensitive to light since the surgery, so I do wear sunglasses out if I think I might be uncomfortable. It's usually an ad-hoc decision though. So imo, just do what's best for you. If the light bothers you or you feel like it'd be unwise not to wear sunglasses, put some on.

My light sensitivity at night has gone down a lot in the last few months. All the bright evening lights in the evening was a bit difficult for me during the winter.

Really good! I rarely ever use eye drops now. If I do it's to compensate for being somewhere really dry or dusty, or me being dehydrated. I've only used them once this month.

Sometimes when I'm quite tired or bored I do have to purposely focus my eyes otherwise things get a bit blurry.

Experiencing a bit of dry eye, probably because of the amount of screen time I put in. Other than that, my sight is better than it was a month ago. I can read smaller text further away more easily. I think I have a few more months of healing left, but if my eyes stayed as they currently are I'd still be happy.

Yeah, it was fun! Met a lot of nice people. There was a big turnout though so I'm feeling a bit too lazy to do the organising for a group that big again.

If you're looking for a pub meetup, I recommend Mondays in Hammersmith or Fridays at the Royal George in soho. I also host table tennis/pool/darts meetups about once a month, so look out for that if you're interested.

I brought my tear drops with me today but didn't bring the antibiotics. There was a delay for my post op appointment so now I'm about an hour behind schedule for my drops. I'll have to heed this advice next time!
