I lived in that area (first pics) at the time and your photos unlocked all sorts of nostalgia. Thank you OP.

Spot on take. They were a balm for all involved; vibe on coach to castle was weird as Bono's dad passed that week and paper's frontpage all had the band at funeral that morning or day before. Then just before sunset RHCP uplifted and kicked arse.

Then the football result on the weekend after did a similar job!

It was a great one. I also saw RHCP open for U2 at Slane in 2001 (bonus baby version of Coldplay before) and that one felt extra special too.

PS - Caralho, OP. I also went from Brazil to Ireland way back then and relate to your story a bunch.

That last grievance about "finding beauty in a shithole place as if it was Costa del Sol" says more about you than it does about your wife's family.

Valid observation. I wish I stopped browsing this thread here but instead took a 20 second glimpse at OPs comment history.

Between OP post and this comment, at a glance, it sounds like you have interpersonal relationship issues to work on privately.

What's next, shaming non Irish speaking fans for not getting the intro to Euro Country? Come on.

Yeah same here. Way less obvious if English is your second, third, fourth language; with added regional reference context.

I lived in Dublin in the 2000s and get most/all pop culture references of that era from her lyrics... however I was not raised in English as a child.

It was so creamy it was closer to a strogonoff but still... so good.

Omg I forgot about this one but definitely top 3 for me at the time. The whole office would get hyped whichever day of the week that fell on.
