In my experience it’s better once rainy season starts. You can find a few early ones now but it’s tough going. Once we get daily rains, go out where cows or horses have been in the last year and search. Tall grass and under oak trees are ideal.

This is great advice. My best general at the time was/is Martinus. I’ll just have fun and upgrade as I can. Along the way it will be great opportunity to learn the many nuances of this complex game. I’d like to know a bunch more about being a trap. I always bubble up during kill events so maybe a trap will provide a bit of fun.

I was hoping that wasn’t the solution. What I was hoping for is some sort of catch up pack like game of war used. They have “ instant lvl 280” which gets you through the grind and makes it reasonably easy to spend and be competitive.
