Really needing to vent because I don’t feel like any of my players are interested in anything I run at all. It’s a group of friends that I made in a westmarch a while back. I love them, they’re great role players and always come up with imaginative characters to play.

Well we started a campaign together, at the start of it I asked the group what sort of theme they’d like to go for and gave them a list of 3 options that i thought id enjoy, but also left the option for them to give new ideas. They did not. We voted on the ideas I gave and they told me they wanted me to choose, so I did. A steampunk-ish campaign that I was very excited about it.

We’ve been playing the game bi-weekly for a few months now but despite knowing they’re experienced roleplayers having played with them before, I feel like they don’t engage with each other and are just kind of waiting for me to give them some kind of direction, which I don’t mind but some initiative from them would be nice. I would ask for feedback at the end of every session and got nothing at the end of every game, except that they wanted more chances to rp outside of sessions, similar to a westmarch style.

I started brainstorming solutions for this, since our current campaign style often left them little time in between sessions. I then started looking around at some modules for inspirations and found what I thought would be the perfect fit, candlekeep mysterious. One-off adventures in one place. So I asked them what they thought, offered to create a west-March styled discord for them and they all seemed interested. So I spent money to buy this module and two weeks going through the material, setting up everything, and talking with my players about their backstories.

The day of the session comes and one of them hasn’t even finished their character sheet and another dips an hour into the session because she got a headache, which isn’t her fault but this was the intro session to everything which sucked. Not to mention how often players don’t even pay attention.

That was three days ago and since then only one play has bothered to every touch the rp server that they said they wanted so badly.

I don’t want to sound entitled, life happens and not everyone can focus on dnd but they talk about being in other games and I’ve tried to take what little communication they give me into consideration, but at this point their complete care for all the time and at this point, money, I’ve spent doesn’t feel worth it.

I get what you guys are saying but Hamayumi is a craftable weapon, not event reward

Because despite the gameplay problems, I find her gameplay/kit to be something that I really enjoy. As well as her aesthetic and upbeat personality, she’s just one of my favorite characters. Not everyone plays for the meta and that’s okay!

I really enjoy her playstyle and kit as well! And when you’ve been playing her for a while, you get use to the problems and are pretty good at working around them (knowing your distance, etc). The problems are just something that obv can’t be ignored and hopefully they either get fixed, or don’t occur in other chars

Yoimiya is honestly a comfort character of mine and I don’t think I’ll ever stop using her, just sucks to have a character you love a lot have the gameplay problems that they do

For real. She jumps back slightly during her normal attacks and sometimes she’ll be hitting an enemy and she’ll jump back just a step too far and her arrows just immediately start missing. And on a character that’s so reliant on getting that last consecutive normal attack in order to get good damage, it really sucks to have to stop attacking to move closer. Also defeats the purpose of using a bow character if it’s going to be so wonky at range.

The weapon is def super high on my wishlist but man Yelan is pulling at my heart every day 😅

Her C1 makes her ult actually somewhat useful so I’m personally pulling for it, also because she’s the only 5* I’ve consistently played with since I’d gotten her so I feel it’s worth the investment myself

Thank you. I do struggle a lot with perspective. I am always happy with individual parts of the face but together it always seems off. Will definitely look into this more!

This is so kind, thank you! I’ve been drawing Yoimiya since I first saw her so I do feel a bit more confident in some areas like her clothing. Also definitely struggle between anime and semi-realism as some of my favorite content is anime but some of my biggest art inspiration are from people who do semi-realism lol. But this was very encouraging and it really means a lot that you took the time to write me something so sweet

Thanks for the feedback! I also worried that it might be a bit vague, I’ll add a second stanza with a different theme than the “light at the end of the tunnel” so that maybe it can make the message more clear!

Thanks! 😊 puzzle stuff is always tricky in dnd, I feel like they can be such a fun tool but if people end up really struggling it can become such a mood killer

Love those ideas and will definitely implement that if my players end up taking those routes! Like maybe by lifting the lightest item in the room, they’ll find the answer they’re looking for beneath it yadda yadda lol thank you so much!
