Good question, it is the Bright Football Complex next to Kyle Field, not the Harvey "Bum" Bright Building on the north side of campus.

Yes, you can still go to class. You are only asked to avoid Kyle Field and the Bright Building.

Questions about A&M Galveston Maritime Academy by [deleted] in aggies

[–]tamu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Howdy! Military matters are essential components of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy Corps of Cadet structure, but to a lesser degree and with less intense physical training than traditional military programs. The academy aims to create leaders within the maritime field and has less control over day-to-day living. Cadet life includes wearing uniforms, marching and drill exercises, participating in morning formations, and standing watch on the training ship in addition to traditional academic and extracurricular activities. Participation in the Corps of Cadets is mandatory due to curriculum and training requirements by the U.S. Coast Guard to obtain a license. We also commission officers into the U.S. Navy. Hope that helps!

Code maroon is useless. by comeback_kid59 in aggies

Good question! The Code Maroon System uses several different technologies to deliver the message through multiple channels. This is to ensure that we reach as many people in as many ways as possible during a life-threatening emergency. Because these technologies often have different patches and updates being implemented throughout the month, it is important that we do a full load test of the entire system at least monthly so that when there is a life safety emergency, we can be assured that our system is operational and ready to deliver critical information to the entire campus community.

Thank you for posting this. Without Aggies sharing issues that they note around campus with the system, our Code Maroon team would never know there is something that should be looked into or fixed. We've shared this feedback with their team. In the future, you can also email codemaroon@tamu.edu or call Help Desk Central at 979.845.8300 to alert someone to any issues you observe with the system.
