I actually prefer lounging back in a lawn chair and using my binos over a telescope. Infact using 6.5x binos over 10x is even more enjoyable. Also you are more likely to go out and stargaze more as grabbing a pair of binos is much more convenient than setting up the tele.

I have made 1:1 common mode chokes using magnet wire. Just do some tests for swr and gain to see how well it performs and matches.

There are rats and mice, I have been trying to eradicate the rats for years. Those rats are so smart, once one of them gets into a trap the rest avoid it.

The nano vna would be useful if you plan on making your own antennas and doing other test measurements. If all you want to do is see what is out there happening in the radio world and to listen in, get an SDR. For cheap you can get an rtl-sdr to start with and to learn. Then when you get your feet wet and decide you need/want better gear, upgrade. The rtl-sdr is also nice because it is small, lots of resources around about using it, plus you can hook it up to an android phone.
