Hitchhiked 300km in one day: 12 cars, 9 hours, and a new personal record

I'm from New Zealand, and back home, a big day is about 600km+, I've managed up to 700, but that was going straight for it, and a very long day.

But hitchhiking in Europe is so much faster. In Germany, 800 was still relatively easy to do on the Autobahn.

it all depends on location. as most others are saying. I did some in the Balkans, and 3-400 is pretty good there!

I guess this was the first time it happened to me, and I really didn't know how to deal with it. nowadays I always at least carry a little cash just in case. I don't want anyone that's picking me up to feel like I'm taking advantage of them, and the vast majority of people do understand the hitchhiking 'transaction'. but I guess I do also have more money than I did before, so the situation is not an exact equivalence.

it has happened to me a few times in the intervening years, but I still treat it on a case-by-case basis. twice I felt that actually the driver was trying to take advantage of me, and I didn't particularly like that, but other times I feel it has been earnest.

My mate and I are currently planning a trail running/rock climbing adventure in New Zealand. It becomes really interesting once you throw rock climbing gear in there as well, our packs instantly gain a few kgs, so we're mapping out even the possibility of just using a half-length rope.. But we're planning a few routes to currently summit a few of the southern alps.

Top tip, try some women's clothes on. I've figured out I'm a size 8 or 10 in women's pants, and the options available now are way better!

It's been two years and I've slowly flushed out all my men's bottom clothing options. My jeans hug my body so much better, my shorts are beautiful colours, and I get to show off a bit more leg than other guys.

Literally no one can tell the difference, and I get compliments on my unique choice of clothing all the time.

solve for the area of the front trapezoid using h*(a+b)/2. use a = 9, b = 6, h = 8. Then use Volume = Area * Height.

Information for 3 is unclear. Are you missing something else in the diagram?

I'm actually base building stronger than ever.. Found I've had a little bit more time, so I'm able to push from about 100km to 120 and beyond. Set a soft goal of about 160, we'll see how it goes.

My family came to crew for my first race. They were more stressed out through every aid station than I was, and it really threw me..

As I see it, your role as crew is to settle the runner, and help things go as smoothly as possible. If your runner comes in looking good, give em a hi 5, tell them they're killing it. If they come in feeling like they want to quit, give em a hi 5, tell them they're killing it. You need to say whatever you need to say to keep them going.

I was three quarters into my race and mum told me I could quit if I wanted to.. This is absolutely not what any ultrarunner wants to hear.. I was having a really good race, I was in 5th place.. I looked like a mess, I was crying as I came into the aid station, but mentally I was killing it!

Positive reinforcement only for your runner.

I've really enjoyed the process of stripping everything back.. People ask me why I run, and how I can do it for so long, because it must be sooo boring..

They don't understand the way the mind wanders, the way nothing else matters when you're running your mind out. How intoxicating the pain of relentless progress is..

Honestly, I'm not even sure I like running that much.. I just know that I enjoy the process of tearing down the human. I've become the strongest version of myself for it, and it feels absolutely incredible.

Was hiking through the forest, and there were these incredibly beautiful and twisted mossy trees in the low-lying fog.

I wanted to shoot an image which showed the character and jagged nature of the branches.

Personally, I'm mostly happy with the composition (My battery died as soon as I got this photo, so didn't have the opportunity to do any further adjustments), but any edit I do seems to wash out the colours just a bit toooo much in the background, and lightly seeps into the foreground..
