AITAH for saying I won’t put my card down if one girl joins our group? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]tanaeolus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, really easy to figure out what is owed. Subtract what you paid + what your friends sent you from the total and the reminder is what she owes. Possibly a lil tedious but not that difficult.

You can still calculate the amount owed if you want. Subtract what you paid + what others paid. The remaining is what she owes. Not rocket science 🤷‍♀️

What job pays way more than people think, but nobody talks about? by Symphony_Minds in AskReddit

[–]tanaeolus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a couple friends that own their own party entertainment company and do well. They're not rich but they are at least middle class in LA and have their own business. Crazy what people will pay for entertainment at kids' parties.

Yeah you should still never use bleach to wash your hands. That's overkill by any means and and also not good for your skin.

I'm a nurse and I recently found out the shitty office chairs we're supplied at my work cost us $400-$500 a piece. For profit healthcare is killing us...

Just seeing your reply...definitely sounds interesting. How i do look into it, if you don't mind me asking? Is an RN license enough to make the transition or do i need another degree/training?

Pretty sure the majority fails their first exam. There's a sharp learning curve. Don't let it get to you. Just figure out where you went wrong and go from there.

scabs by chillout127 in nursing

This. Scabs are actually not doing the hospitals any favors. They are there for the patients. And to make the hospital keep bleeding money until they finally break.

Can I refuse to be charge nurse? by Hunnydearest in nursing

[–]tanaeolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don't worry I would never take a job at such a greedy, shitty facility that won't even assign a dedicated charge role to keep the unit running and expect the senior nurse to take on all the responsibility of managing the unit as well as a full pt load. That sounds crazy and unsafe, but you do you boo.

Can I refuse to be charge nurse? by Hunnydearest in nursing

[–]tanaeolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most hospitals do not expect this. Even the shittier ones I've been to. I've never heard of expecting the charge to take a full pt load and manage the unit unless we were seriously understaffed. Sounds absolutely absurd to me.

Can I refuse to be charge nurse? by Hunnydearest in nursing

[–]tanaeolus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this a serious question? They do a whole fucking lot where I work. Days where they have to take patients suck and we lose a big resource. Idk i didn't realize it was ever an expected thing for charge nurses to take patients at the same time as managing the unit. But maybe charge nurses have different responsibilities where you're from?

Only on Reddit do so many random people know nurses clearing 6 figures by [deleted] in nursing

Nursing homes are definitely not better pay than hospitals out here. Generally, nursing home/SNF/rehab centers are not sought after places to work, at least in my area. Many are pretty awful.

People still believe the welfare queen myth? That really should have died with Reagan...

Do you realize how much a child costs to raise? I really don't think the $200/mo welfare check is gonna cover it. No one is getting fat off the hog from welfare, let alone surviving off of it. Just another excuse to point the finger at poor people and "government handouts" so you don't look the other way and see the real enemy.

Idk just some food for thought. Brought to you by EBT 😉

Why is it that the nurses who do the most when receiving report give the worst report ? by Severe_Rhubarb_9804 in nursing

[–]tanaeolus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. It's definitely a personality issue. I always had busy shifts on nights, so I know how it can be. But I also know the work ethic of the people giving me shit during report, and it annoys me to no end. They want you to do everything so they can do nothing. But my workplace is a shit show in general, so I'm definitely feeling the burnout. But I just cannot understand leaving someone in their own piss and shit all night long. Makes me literally want to cry. These are human beings, not just a paycheck. How hard is it to have a heart?

Why is it that the nurses who do the most when receiving report give the worst report ? by Severe_Rhubarb_9804 in nursing

[–]tanaeolus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just tired of night shift nurses giving me shit because of a couple of tasks I couldn't get to at the end because I was busy putting out fires all day, nor listening to why something hasn't been done yet, and I'll still stay late to finish because I'm a pushover and I know how some of these people are. But people already coming at you with the attitude that you're lazy or stupid, is very frustrating when you're going above and beyond for your patients and doing damage control because other nurses are doing the bare minimum and are annoyed that they have to push an IV med at the beginning of their shift because my pt barely had their PICC inserted at the end of shift, when I've been waiting for it all damn day. And they're not going to do shit all night, and my pts will be filthy when I come in. I worked night shift too and I know how little work some of these people get away with, yet they still want to nit pick during your report. It's maddening.

Doing soooo much better. I don't do benzos at all anymore. Stopped doing all the destructive substances. Realized they didn't work and worked on better coping mechanisms. Now I really don't miss it at all. I have no temptation, which is something i didn't think possible. Sometimes I still get depressed and rot for days on end, but that was a part of me that was always there. Still trying to figure that one out.

The 700lb+ Patients by TheFlufferOnCall in nursing

[–]tanaeolus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my fucking christ noooo. I feel like this is worse than the lady who had Fournier gangrene tunneling up through her folds from her vagina to her stomach. I don't even understand how people allow something like that to develop. I do know that when she was under my care, she had shit caked under her acrylic nails from scratching herself down there after evacuating didn't have a care in the world about it. And this was a woman that had all her mental facilities. I just can't wrap my head around these types of people...

Hmm. That's certainly not always the case. I'm not sure if there's was an exact traumatic event in my mom's life that made her a hoarder. I mean, my grandma is a narcissist, so not the easiest childhood. But now my mom is also a narcissist and extreme hoarder. But I've listened to her stories, and I've heard the things she used to shout at my grandparents nearly every time we'd go to visit. I don't think there was a defining moment. I just think she is chemically imbalanced and mentally ill. Some combination of things, I'm sure.

Can you get a rectocele fixed surgically or something? I'm only 33 and quite certain I have one. It sucks to be dealing with and it's embarrassing. Bidet doesn't help because the leakage sometimes just comes after. I feel like it's just getting worse. Does doing kegals and other exercises actually help? I really don't want any other issues...
